Budget Hotel with Frills
Yes it's a economy hotel but with frills like free parking, a simple breakfast, a splash pool and a decent gym to boot. So for the price I pay for the accommodation, I've tampered my expectation. The location of the hotel is advantageous as its near the two megamalls ie Makhota Parade and Dataran Palawan as well as the tourist sites such as the Afamosa and Jonkers Walk. During our stay, we booked into a deluxe room for triple sharing and we were housed in their so-called minister's suite and it's huge. At 17th storey where we stayed was a good view of city at Malacca straits side. However, the windowless corridor outside the room that leads to the lifts gives a feel of a multistorey residential apartment instead of a hotel. On the whole, I would say my check-in was fast, receptionist was up to expectations and room was clean. My advice for your stay is: forget about breakfast as there are so many breakfast options outside the hotel. However, be careful when crossing the roads to Dataran Palawan and Makhota. Traffic is always heavy as motorists are always in a rush. The roads around the megamalls are not pedestrian friendly with more thoughts for the motorists than the pedestrians accessing these malls. Traffic comes from all direction without respite during peak hours. Will I come again? It's good pricing and it's location is certainly a draw.

Stay only if you have a very limited budget!
Hotel (I would rather term it a hostel) is extremely under-maintained for a relatively new one (2 years old). The room I stayed in had a couple of things malfunctioning - Main lighting couldn't work, Safe box was not operational, toilet bidet spray was missing despite the tube being connected, iron was chipped at the tip and the ironing board was missing. The TV connection was poor as well which led to disconnections at certain periods. Rooms were not cleaned thoroughly as well, with stains on the walls and dust being spotted at several corners. The wardrobe obviously wasn't cleaned in age as well, with remains of cupboard chipping all over the base of the wardrobe. The lift service was extremely slow as well. I stayed on the 7th floor, and during peak hours, expect a minimum 7 mins waiting time for you to able to board the lift. There were 3 lifts in operation, but somehow the logarithmic programming of the lift was inefficient. The lifts could bypass your level for god knows what reason. The worst thing about this hotel is that all their staff utilise the passenger lifts to do their "maintenance", housekeeping and ad-hoc guest services as well. At one point in time I witnessed 2 roll-away beds being cramped into the already small passenger lift. The shared lift concept that the hotel has chosen to adopt probably contributed to the extremely slow lift service experience by guests. Lastly, do not expect air-conditional corridors as well. The corridors leading to your rooms on all levels are open-air and the condition of those corridors reminded me of an industrial building. A very poor hotel located in a prime location in Malacca. The management needs to review it maintenance policies and provide a thorough uplift to the hotel. If guests satisfaction is not your priority I suggest a new management should come in or a new hotel to take over this excellent location.

Just Average Service, Improvement is Definitely Needed
Has booked the room a few months prior my husband's 33rd Birthday. Spoken with Syafiqah and arranged for balloons to be delivered and decorated in the room on the day we arrive just to surprise the my special birthday boy. Checked in on the 12th November 2017 and we got the room at 1350hrs (thanks to Hafizul - the front desk agent) for being efficient! Pretty impressed with the decorated bedroom and living room. Had booked a Deluxe Suite (RM 1803), however, noticed that the room was quite small and does not seemed to be the same as what i have seen on the website (as there was only one picture uploaded). The carpet in this room NEEDS to be replaced as loose wool were all over the room and having a 14 months old baby crawling around make things much worrying. We have requested for a baby crib to be placed in the room prior to our arrival however, as per Hafizul to check on the availability on the day we check in. So called the reception when we have checked in and was informed that they have to check with the housekeeping team and will get back to me in the room. After 45 minutes, the housekeeping agent rang the door bell and delivered the baby crib. No call back as what have been advised by the agent earlier on. Breakfast was just OK. The only person who had greeted us with a pleasant smile and greeted "Good Morning" was the guy from the egg station. The entire team seemed to look as if they were too exhausted to smile or boring. There are lot of rooms for improvements in order to sustain the brand name for sure!

Quality of the Hotel has decline specially on the Maintenance (very poor)
I recently went back to the same hotel for a 3 nights stay. This hotel has good location and easily access to the shopping malls and food. The only setback are the maintenance of the bedding (pillow case, mattress stains', dusty at sometimes on the floor). The toilet doors are not properly maintain as the room that I stayed, I cannot lock the door. Hence, I agree with some of the feedback from other reviewers that the hotel needs to up keep with their maintenance - bedding, toilets, toilet doors. If the hotel take a serious look and keep up with their maintenance regularly, I believed that it is still worth the stay!

Qualty of rooms has declined since 2yr ago
When we first visited, the hotel had just opened, and the rooms were fabulous. The rooms are now in less than perfect condition. Rooms: Comfortable, high floor, but the floor laminate is peeling, TV does not have Astro (housekeeping says check with the reception). However rooms are still good but not up to a high standard. Service: Pleasant, quick to register but recpetionist lack the service orientation of an international hotel. Food: We had breakfast at the Cheng Ho. It was overcrowded, carpeting needs a renewal because it is sticky. The food is good but they do not serve BUTTER ! only margarine. Cleanliness: Overall good, Location: Excellent location because is it near to almost everything of importance in Malacca.
