Upgrade / Refurbish, Please!
I understand from the staff that the hotel is in the midst of upgrading - and I think they are starting with floors 8 and 9. We have stayed at Level 6 - it was quite bad. The carpet was dirty, the wall had stains, and the towels were colorful! It didn't seem like a hotel room, more of a homestay - how can you give colored bath towels, that are in various shapes and sizes. We requested for a room in level 8 the next night - it was slightly better, however, we were just unlucky (again). Our phone was not functioning, a few of the lights were out. I would give 5 for the staff for their hospitality, though. Despite the sad condition of the facilities. Food is quite alrite :)

Need refurbishment
First impression, its a grand hotel with a nice big lobby. My children was happy running around. Entering the room, it was a bit shabby, old furniture and electrical items. TV reception very poor. Room was not cleaned properly, i can see dusts on the floor and need to call housekeeping to vacuum the whole room. Swimming pool is good size for kids to play in but swimming pool area lack of shades/trees/cabanas/chairs. Breakfast spread were good. Lots of choices and the servers and floor managers were very friendly. On our last day there, my daughter had a minor accident at the pool. She knocked on something at the pool and there was a small tear at her chin. We went back to our room and i called the reception to ask for first aid kit or plaster only to be told that the reception will check and call me back. We waited for 15/20 mins, no call came in. So i call back. Again, reception told me to wait and that he will call me back. My husband and i were fed up, we clean the cut and just put a tissue paper as we were about to check out. If its a big cut, i think my daughter will bleed to death already (sorry im being a bit dramatic here but unfortunately response was extremely poor when we need them the most. Next time we need to remember to bring our own first aid kit).

This hotel is rather tired, TV reception is bad, no hand towels in the room and generally everything is tired. Upside is breakfast is very good with a great range of food. This Hotel is more of a 3 star Hotel.

Urgently need to be refurbished
Old hotel with smelly and stained carpets. Bedroom smelling of ciggerates despite being on a Non smoking room. Old furniture in the bedroom with broken chair. No towels in room and after reporting, it took 3 hours for towels to be delivered. Bathroom not clean either. Gym was terrible too. The entire hotel needs TLC. Front desk staffs were ok.

It's getting old
Used to stay here every time in Ipoh. My feeling of the hotel is that it's getting old. Room and furniture are old. Bathroom door could not close properly. There is no thermostat for the air conditioning in the room. Service seems to be... just average. Will we return here on our next trip? Most probably not.
