the service was superb.. I even celebrate my dinner anniversary there, they deco my table for free and give us present!

The location and services is top notch. The hotel is located at the center of Pulau Tikus area where you can commute easily to Gurney Drive (Hawker Street at night), Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon. For those who goes there for medical check-up, it is also a good place to stay, since it is clean and close to Adventist, Island and Gleneagle hospital. For those who wants to enjoy Penang, this place is a worth place to stay.

Gurney hotel was alright, worth the price we paid for. Room was super spacious! Definitely more than enough space for just 2 pax, I guess this is also because it's an older hotel? Could do with lights that are less dim...and a brighter lobby. Location is convenient, 20 mins walk to Gurney Paragon and Plaza Gurney. Also a wet market nearby (by car). Can consider staying here for medical trips!

This hotel is perfect for business travel or personal travel. It is in Penang town which is Georgetown, nearby to Perangin Mall. Easy to access to the best nasi kandar in Penang. The services are wonderful and breakfast food is really awesome. The room is really convenience and comfortable.

Hotel location is really strategic, in front of komtar. The bedroom is clean, spacious and love the view we have from our room. They have various menu for breakfast and it's all delicious.. We definitely will stay here again when we go back to penang!

This is my second time stay in this hotel. Why I love this hotel? because this hotel is clean and the location is suitable my needs. In front of this hotel, we can find restaurant open 'til night and the food is delicious. Beside this hotel there is massage original from Thailand. You just walk to the main street (around 100 m), so many food (restaurant) we can find there.

me and my wife stay for about a month. and overall, iStay is a perfect place for couple like us. the employees are friendly, antique interior with wood dominance and very cozy too, bathroom is clean (the most important for us). makes us feels like stay at home. near to macalister road so you will never get starving, a lot of food around iStay hotel. definitely will book here again for the next trip.

The room is big enough for three of us. They have gym, washing machine, and water dispenser at 7th floor. It is also walking distance to adventist hospital.

Satisfyingly! Got to park my car at the entrance. Cool 😎 room is cozy, bed & pillows comfy. Eateries are just walking distance. But the sea view room is a bit downfall...the view is obstructed by a construction nearby

Pros - Room and bathroom were very clean and a lot more spacious than in photos.- Toiletries are provided and water pressure+temperature were good and toilet has a vent.- Staff were friendly and concise.- Good wifi.- I came halfway through ramadan so there were lots of free parking outside.- Location is perfect if you're food hunting. Cons - Can hear everything going on outside but didn't really bother me as I'm a heavy sleeper.- Faint sewage smell (common problem in malaysian hotels)- Bedsheets smelled slightly sour as no window = lack of ventilation. Maybe they weren't dry enough when they were fitted to the bed 🤷🏽‍♀️

The location is strategies, in front of shopping center and near some of hidden gem of penang culinary. The most oustanding place of the hotel is the room that spacious and clean. I'll comeback here for sure. The gym tools also complete.

Strategic location at Gurney Drive with shopping and food nearby. Excellent location for morning and evening walks along the nostalgic Gurney Drive. The staff were wonderful and helpful. I was given an upgrade to Room 102 with frontal seaview and really amazing to get up every morning with a view of the sea during my 5 days 4 nights stay. Will definitely choose this hotel (Room 102) in my next 8 days 7 night trip.

Cheap Accommodation, Strategic location since I want to go to Adventist Hospital, just 200 meters from hotel, Near to Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon mall. Good Room and service as the price says. Overall I really satisfied

Was here for a night, service was good requested for extra towel and another time requested for hair dryer, both request were handled in a fast manner. Spoken to one of the reception, and she was quite helpful in advising us on ways to go to Penang Mainland.

I didn't expect I will get a relaxing and pleasurable stay at this hotel in a very affordable price. Toilet was shiny as new, there's tv, clean bed, free bottled water, coffee and staff are super kind. Location was great, nearby MCd and souvenir shop, and place was safe, we just park our rented bike outside overnight. I recommend you guys to stay here.

the room & toilet is very clean & tidy. you can watch netflex & utube inside room & you won't be boring. the wifi also good & fast. at level 6 got bicycle museum as a guest you can visit for free. it's located near by nasi kandar deen maju & nasi kandar clear. the staffs are very friendly & helpful. I am very satisfied & happy to stay here.

First stay at this hostel, I fell like my home. The room is very clean and comfortable. Another plus is the location, close to Adventist Hotel and Gurney Plaza. Service was good and friendly.

The location isn't far away from Kontar; the room is really cozy and clean. I really love the ambience of the hostel, very quiet and we sleep well. The host is really helpful and serves really good breakfast everyday. If I visit Penang again next time, I would love to stay again in Magpie Residence.

Place was very clean and same as picture. there was microwave, electric stove, chiller, sink, and utilities such as plate, glass, spoon, fork, knife. Bed was minimalist and as seen on picture. AC working very good. Near Loh Guan Lye Hospital and walkable to Island Hospital.
