Manana is CLOSED!
Phoned these guys days ahead, got a curt conversation saying the days I wanted to come were free, and to whatsap the details to the same number. No subsequent reply to whatsap messages or emails. Figured it may be signal is bad there, so made the trek out to Pituru Laut anyways. Was met by a whole bunch of locals who finally told me the real story, the place is closed indefinitely, possibly because their boat is broken, but given the long list of bad trip advisor reviews, probably because these guys just give up. Met a German couple who even spoke to a guy over the phone the day before on the same number, and ended in the same situation, stranded in this tiny village on the coast. Thankfully we were all saved by the Dragon Pearl Beach Resort, which was not far and in hindsight a far better alternative. Don't waste your time with Mañana.

I don't know where to even start, so I will begin with the good points: It has a very beautiful, isolated, relaxing and peaceful beach (beware of the jellyfish.) However, we experienced many different problems. On our first day, we were picked up in a very broken boat (which was actually very entertaining!) When we got to our room, we realized we didn't have any toilet paper in our room so of course, we asked for some (there was no bum gun to compensate for no toilet paper.) We were barely acknowledged and told us they had none. The next day (after a terrible nights sleep in a very uncomfortable bed) the couple staying in the room next door left and a new couple arrived. They didn't replace the bedding, towels etc - I had already suspected the bedding and towels weren't clean due to the smell, but the staff couldn't care less that we had noticed this. I asked for a new (clean) towel which I was once again, barely acknowledged and needless to say, I never received it. The following day they ran out of running water too. My partner and I would have left but unfortunately we already paid 3 days upfront. Overall - it is extremely overpriced, dirty and the staff are rude (besides the man that rides the broken boat.) I really have no problem roughing it, but to pay $37/per night and not receive toilet paper, clean bedding and towels and no running water isn't justified to me. Also, the food was expensive for how average/terrible it was... I really hope the staff changes their attitude and tries to accommodate their guests more because this really is such a special beach with so much potential!

Idyllic Location
The rooms aren't anything fancy, but to be honest you don't need to spend any time in them. we were there for 2 nights and we basically lived on the beach which by the way is bloody gorgeous. sunsets and sunrises are some of the most beautiful i've seen. its quiet and great for swimming (watch out for jellyfish though as 3 of us got stung in 2 days). the room is pretty grotty to be completely honest and the bathroom only has very limited running water so make sure to fill up a bucket while the water is on so that you can flush the toilet/brush your teeth etc. its a beach in the middle of nowhere so service is slow and sleepy but to be honest it didn't bother us- the food was nice and the staff were friendly (though with limited english) would recommend the roti canai for a quick snack at lunch and the seafood BBQ at dinner is a nice treat :)

Beautiful Beach and scenery, terrible service and food
We stayed at Manana for a total of 24 hours and that was more than enough time for us. I'm all about roughing it, but at Manana there was no running water, electricity or food. They had maybe 6 of the total 40 items on their menu, and everything they make is undercooked. I booked my place 4 months ago and got the worst bungalow they had which I wasn't too pleased with. The only great thing about Manana is the truly breathtaking beach. It is absolutely something like out of a movie and worth visiting for the day to experience, just not staying over night or eating at the facility (bring your own food like like instant noodles or fruit because they don't even have a banana). The other disappointing factor is the staff, specifically Alvin the manager. He's quite cheeky and will take advantage of you any way he can. When we arrived he and his wife had come along in our taxi which I didn't mind, however, on our way back he took the opportunity to bum a free ride for himself and his wife. When we asked if he was paying half he said that he had an "arrangement". It's really not cool to be cramming us in our already crammed car, and then not sharing the costs for the ridiculously overpriced taxi , 150rm to be exact. I think this is a great place to come for the day if you get there early and leave after the beautiful sunset, but staying overnight is a different story.

This place could be so much more
On arrival no coffee and no beer! Come on guys this should be paradise. The beach is really beautiful. There was no communication about my diving trip and in the end they told me the boat was not working. Next day I could dive maybe. But no communication again. I think this place had an amazing vibe before. But the staff is changed and now it's gone. I moved to dragon pearl beach resort, that was amazing
