Good location, easy to get transport and food and visiting touristic spots in the town. Friendly staff. I love the old building, an interesting heritage legacy. Drinking water, free flow of tea and coffee available. WiFi in the second floor needs to be fixed, weak signal. Air conditioner in the dorm need to be fixed and replaced with a new one. Not cool enough for a dorm for more than one person. Maybe, that's why the room was a bit smelly. Shower rooms are clean. Spacious area for sitting, relaxing, reading, or surfing the internet.

The house wasn't clean and smelled bad. It was uncertain about the 'halal' food.

If you enjoy history and historical places, this old merchant house turned into a hotel would delight you. The location is one of the best in Penang, close to every interesting places. The rooms are decent, bathrooms were clean.

Cozy hostel in centre with friendly staff
I stayed in the female dorm for a few days, really nice price and clean. The common areas were cozy and relaxed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I arrived there quite stressed out and anxious after an unpleasant event in my previous hostel, and they were so relaxed and reassuring, this was exactly what I needed. Location in middle of town, several good eateries nearby. If I come back to Penang I will stay here again.

Best hostel i've stayed in Malaysia
The hostel is simple but also amazing. It is in a tipical heritage house with beautiful architecture. The Muntri street is quiet and nice with good restaurants, just one street away from the noisy love lane with various street food and pubs. The staff is amazing. The recepcionist man knows everything about the city. The rooms are small but clean and the toilette has the shower inside but if it is not your first day in malaysia it wont surprise you. The brrakfast could be a litte better with something salty and sorr, but the coffee is very bad :) Overall, the nicest hostel i stayed in Malaysia, thank you!

Amazing price-quality
Stayed in Muntri house 5 nights in total. The location is amazing in Georgetown, just a few minutes walk from everything. The house itself is amazing, old Chinese house with really nice atmosphere. The staff is really friendly and caring, they also kept our backpacks for couple of nights while we went cycling around the island. The most amazing thing is a price-quality this place offers, many other heritage-houses in Georgetown are way more expensive than this one.

Wonderful heritage guesthouse in the heart of Georgetown!
Myself and my partner stayed at Muntri House for 10 nights in total (three nights the first time, but decided to come back again a week or so later for a further seven nights because we liked it so much!) We felt the accommodation was such good value for what it was - it was a historical Chinese clanhouse with plenty of character within, which included breakfast each morning (toast with peanut butter and jam, as well as coffee/tea options to choose from, which was fine for us), Wi-Fi that worked very well on both floors, a hot & cold water dispenser, and the location was perfectly central for easy walking to local restaurants, attractions, shops, a launderette, and of course the street art Georgetown is so famous for! The staff were very friendly, helpful and hospitable, and were happy to provide us with lots of information relating to local transport and places of interest. Leaflets and maps were provided to us as well, which were very much appreciated. The bathrooms were cleaned daily and the place was very well-kept too. Thanks so much for a lovely stay - we'd definitely recommend this guesthouse to anyone staying in Georgetown, and hope to come back again ourselves someday! :)
