Overall it was a decent stay, of cause it will be better if the TV in our room is in working condition. Rubbish should not be left outside of the room without disposing it before night fall. Four stray dogs appeared out of no where in the middle of the night and made a mess of it.
Not enough parking lot, need more maintenance for water pipe
Not recommended. There's no phone for service call inside the room. The bedsheet got stains. Towel not provided even had asked for three times. No breakfast.
Water heater was spoiled.
The hot-water is gone at night we made us suffer the cold. However, the staff is nice enough to give us 1 small room for us to bath with hot water.
Great , excellent stay...highly recommended
We had a good time in Planters. The staffs are friendly and the place is up to my expectation. Suitable for retreat and worth every cent. Will definitely come back again.
The hotel is nice and pretty.
Suitable for a honeymoon. The water heater not functioning well.
Amazing atmosphere and great location

The place to stay in the Cameron Highlands
Cameron Highlands is a beautiful mountain retreat, worth a visit to escape the heat of the coast and to try some jungle treks. The highlands suffer from over-development. Planters Country Hotel (do not confuse it with Planters Hotel which is an entirely different establishment, in fact you are better off using the old name Bala's Holiday Chalet with local drivers) is beautifully situated with un-spoilt views of the mountains. It is located in an old house which later became a school. All the rooms are different, there is a lovely garden, a restaurant, reading room and lounge. The staff are very helpful. It is walking distance to Tanah Rata. This is definitely the place to stay in the Cameron Highlands. Wifi worked well in the garden and reading room.

Yummy scones but bad customer service
Beautiful place and love the western vibe that you get here. The British colonial feeling was in tact with all the decor etc. However the customer service was a letdown. They don't speak much and don't seem interested to communicate. The breakfast was alright but the scones were amazing. We found a metal staple in the jam but the owner apologised for it. The owner was also shocked to find out that our reservation to stay at the place was never attended to. So we ended up staying elsewhere and just decided to stop by for breakfast. Overall it's a beautiful place and would be a perfect destination if the customer service can be improved.

My fiance and I stayed at Bala's for 3 days and 2 nights. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL - we took our engagement photos here! Service is good, and the property is very quiet and serene - it's off the main road and situated on top of a private road. Accomodation is very comfortable and clean / as pictured. Wifi is intermittent though. It took us about 2.5 hours to get to Bala's from Ipoh airport by Taxi, but that was on a Sunday, when the traffic down and up the mountain was really bad. Our journey back took around 1.5-2 hours. The location is also very convenient -- 5 minute drive to the nearby town which has lots of good eateries, a 20 min drive to Barat's tea plantation, and about 35-40 minutes to the Mossy Forest. Bala himself came round to welcome us when we checked-in. He's a great guy! We were also served lunch in the garden. It was heavenly! Their Indian food is great =) DEFINITELY staying here again if we visit Cameron again in the future!

A colonial retreat in the Highlands !
Bala's Chalet is a beautiful old colonial property established in 1934 a British school. the property is preserved and maintained well with the interiors and decor matching the style and elegance of the British times. We stayed at the Family suite for 2 days. Rooms & Service - Rooms are spacious , nicely done up and go with the ambiance and beautiful weather. Our Room had dampness and hence corrective action there is required. Service was with a smile , no complains there. Staff went out of the way to help us on different fronts regarding bus , cabs etc. Though Staff could use a little grooming , especially at the reception . It just adds to the appeal of the place , good first impressions always help. Internet speed is decent enough for basic use. Location & Food - The place is at a hill top and gives beautiful views and serene gardens. It is centrally located with Tanah Rata within 10 mins cab ride. You can call cabs from the reception. The restrn is active and chefs are willing to cook any special meals as per your preference. We just had breakfasts here - food is decent , and relative to prices in Cameron a little pricey. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Bala's Chalet . We met the owner as well who is keenly looking into the comfort and quality of stay of their guests. He seemed approachable and one can have a good conversation about the place and its history !

Nice hotel, restaurant pricing too high
We stayed at Planters for two days, exploring the surrounding highlands. The hotel is situated just 1 mile (1,5km) from town. It is nice and quiet. It's an easy walk to the town, but there is also a complementary transfer to town. The room was spacious and authentic in relation to the building. The bathrooms on the other hand were modern, which was odd and not coherent with the style of the building. Everything was very clean and well organized. We were situated in rooms JT2 and JT3. Wifi was good, plenty of charging-outlets. Really enjoyed our stay here. The weather was a bit gloomy, so we could not enjoy the gardens.
