Not what I expected
Raymond (the owner) was a very nice man who after our plans changed said it was okay to arrive at 2.30 AM. We thankfully arrived at midnight to be met by Raymond. My cousin and I were then shown to our rooms. The rooms were not as expected or what we had booked. We were given a dorm each (as in the whole dorm). My first concern was that the place itself looked a bit tired. I am a seasoned backpacker and have stayed in some questionable accommodation in my time but this felt off. The hook you can see in the picture is the only security on the inside of the room I stayed in. My cousin needed me in the night and just hooked his finger under the door to let himself in. The second security concern was the window (pictured) which was on the corridor and part of the room my cousin was in. As you can see it had a couple of panes missing and is the type of window you could if you so wish take the other panes out to gain entry to the room. The bathrooms were not the best and the cleanliness of the whole place wasn't great. There was also a gap in the bedroom floor I was staying in where you could see the room below. We had booked two nights but just stayed the one and moved on. The owner didn't seem surprised when I told him we were leaving the next day. It was gone midnight when we arrived and it was somewhere to sleep. I would recommend it to anyone who just wanted a place to rest their head.

Good place for budget travellers ( cheapest place in town)
After 8 months of travel, We arrived in Malacca on a weekday when the place is quiet. In the weekend there is night market and a lot of tourists. We asked around and All the other accomodations were between 50rm and 100rm. Raymond gave us the best price So we Chose for HIM. We planned to stay 2,3 nights and we stayed more then 2 weeks. Raymond is a Nice Guy who wants to help you with whatever you need. Toast, jam and coffee included. Newspaper available, wifi works good and it's in the old center close to the river and jonker. If you like Some beer, hè sells iT. Hè asked No money for luggage storage and printing tickets. Bonus: the Malacca crew is friendly and kind. Definitly go to river and meet with locals. just around the corner you have a local bar opening at 21h-3am Where you can jam and sing ( and get wasted)

Perfect Location
Raymond's is just around the corner from the awesome Jonker Walk Street with food, shops and entertainment. Also right by the canal and everything else in the city. Raymond is a good guy will do his best to help you enjoy your stay.

The owner is a very vulgar and not welcoming person. First he forced me to to pay an extra night up front, then he told me to return business card, since "many people take cards and not come back" Terrible expetrience, not recommended to any tourist.

Budget small but confortabel Homestay
Raymond runs a nice business there, it s small but comfortabel. Best for Backpackers with small butdget who likes to stay in the center of the city but also save money. Everything is clean and ok. He also knows were to go and helps whenever he can. Renting a bike f.E. easy with him. Breakfast is also ok. All together a nice basic stay in Mallaka. With Raymonds a Cozy experience.
