Good location but buyer beware, it isn't far from Royal Chulan Kualar Lumpur and I booked this based on reviews of the other, so was disappointed (name change 2 months ago). The foyer was chaos (as a large group were leaving / arriving). However the staff were friendly and helpful. If you want to book a taxi / use a tourist map, you need to use the old name (Royal Bintang Hotel). It turned out not to be the luxury treat I thought I planned, but was a perfectly acceptable city break transit spot. I probably won't book either Chulan hotel on my next visit to KL though.

Old hotel but adequate. Taken over by Royal Bintang Group. Looking forward for improve management and facilities. Location wise is great right in the middle of Lowyat and Bukit Bintang area. Easy access for those who want to walk to Lowyat, Lot 10, Fahrenheit, Pavilion(abit far)

Value for money for the stay at the golden triangle area but the breakfast buffet was baf with most of the food was not top up even though it was just 9am.

THE WORST HOTEL YOU WILL VISIT IN ASIA. RUBBISH LOW CLASS HOTEL. A MOCKERY TO CIVILITY
We were in Madagascar and Air Asia offered package to Kuala Lumpur from Mauritius which seemed an attractive offer to go to paradise. Little did we know that the very much looking forward South East Asia trip paradise, most photographed photos on The Royal Chulan website, IS and would turn out to be completely BIAS, so deviating and completely and astonishingly far away from the true. Even in one of the poorest country in the world, Madagascar, the service, the attention and the quality of budget or 4 stars hotel is real paradise, compared with that rude, impolite, complete false pretense Royal Chulan in KL, Bukit Bintang. It turned out to be a total NIGHTMARE. The moment with arrived was fine, a lovely Man name Mr. Mohan received us with a big golden smile and became immediately, the man we would consult during the entire duration of our stay. One of our luggage was missing in-between transits at the two airports between Madagascar and Mauritius, a two different airlines. We arrived during a long weekend holiday in Malaysia (independence Day) and the BUSINESS CENTER at our Royal Bintang was closed for 5 days! We need to do some re-booking and needd the business Cneter due to the fact that Indian Ocean Island and Asia is 7 hours difference, and we became so frustrated and all the time very embarrassed to be forced to BEG the reception staff to open the business Center fora short while. YET with the contingent of staff sorry to say,, mostly incompetent and rude, NO ONE seem to genuinely tried to help!! No one had the authorization to open the business center and the refrain became loud and clear, The General Manager didn't authorize to open the hotel Business Center located on the second floor. All they needed was the key, yet none of the entire staff at the reception wanted to help and frankly speaking, they gave us long face and mostly impolite look as we press for the business center to open. Any International hotel know that the time zone are apart in up to 6 or 15 hours between Europe, The Americas, or The Pacific islands and Australia Asia. We had to deal with three different Duty Managers, none elp and with all sincerity, they were all rude, reluctant to entertain us, or disinterested and too reluctant when we were at the front desk arguing about wanting so much the service of the the Hotel Business Center. Regarding our rooms, we had booked and fully pay buy credit cards via a website booking, three double bed rooms, non smoking for 5 of us. We had to make do with 2 different floors and the non smoking floor were completely useless, lots of badly behaved local hotel guests, were smoking making far too much noise in hotel room corridors, and it did bother us the all duration of our weekly stay at that hotel. Royal is not royal at all. It should have been called Budget, or total rubbish Chulan Hotel. Morning call for the daily breakfast was more like a stampede at the buffet displays, guests were piling up all sorts of food, as if they were refugees or people who had not eaten for weeks. The staff were unprofessional, spending so much time standing with one an other, endlessly talking, instead of paying attention to guest needs. We requested for espresso and instead, they gave us coffee tasting like sewage. Even a cheap open-air market kiosk in Africa or South America would definitely serve deluxe and excellent quality coffee compare to that coffee shop at The Chulan Hotel. No point to try after two days to continue having our included morning breakfast. We skipped it all together, went to the next door hotel to eat and at least, we didn't need to QUEUE endlessly at Sunny Flower Coffeehouse locate on the second floor of the hotel. Getting in any of the hotel lifts, was and became a nightmare. The hotel had high local people occupancy. It was a long weekend and the lifts turned out to be like we had to enter a huge sardines box. Regarding our room, ten wall paper was peeling, the bed sheets were sort of grey color and definitively NOT white. The corridor smell cigarettes smokers. The bed rooms air conditioning had to be fixed every other day.Our rooms often were not clean properly or clean in reasonable time. It looked more like someone was rushing to clean, did a swift task and the body corporal hygiene of the hotel housekeeping staff were much to be desired! It was disgusting, disgraceful and I am here to say, this is not paradise but more like a dumpster side. Left over take away fast food, always ended up on the corridors carpet, no one ever picks up[ rubbish at night or too often early morning on our way for breakfast. We had to call several time room service, IF AT ALL they would even answer the hotel telephone. Loads of rubbish near our room doors were a frequent eyesore The bedroom were not attended well, either bathroom towels were missing OR toilet didn't flash and often were leaking.Stain and large array of mold in along shower and bathtub walls, Hotel amenities were a disappointment and getting service was more or less non existent! Too often we were told my the many supervisor, it was due to 'staff shortage''!!! We were shocked to been told by our Son that one day when he returned to his room, he saw a member of the hotel Housekeeping staff smoking inside the room next door and seating on the bed watching television! The pool was noisy and terribly busy, all the armchairs and white table were taken. Often pool towels were an issue or not available. Locals were making so much noise, had absolutely no courtesy or concern for other hotel guests who wanted a peace of mind to read a book. The pool closed at 7.00 pm. Often we had wanted to rest from long day sightseeing and wanted to take a deep in the hotel pool. We were frankly so exhausted and all we needed was, to swim for half an hour instead of going top that lousy room with no much to watch on television... no cable news safe for CNN and all the Malay channel were most of the time showing movies as the like of Terminator 1986 or The Titanic filmed in 1993! The travel channel were with Ian Write when he was still a teenager. Or Anthony Boudain way back in the 1990's. Anyway, all we can say is, the Royal Chulan hotel staff were very e rude, often incompetent and too often disinterested to help. Most of the time we were given huge among of idiotic excuses, silly stories and nothing to really help and attend the many issue we brought forward. The hotel Bar downstairs is sordid too dark and very depressing. Bar staff and waiters are too rude. The large poster of the local musician at the entrance couldn't be more far from the true. He wears casual cloths and NOT a tuxedo as shown in the hotel poster photograph. He always seats at the BAR conversing with the bar girl instead of playing for the rare guest coming in. Every time we were at the Bar, he was gone, or as the staff often mentioned ''coming soon'' or '' having his diner'' having his break'' he was in the toilet'' etc.. etc... PLEASE DO NOT STAY IN THAT HOTEL. not worst the hotel room rate.MALAYSIA IS FAR BETTER. THAT LOUSY HOTEL DESTROYED OUR HOLIDAY. IT HAS IN EVERY SENSES TARNISH THE COUNTRY'S IMAGE BIG BIG TIME. AVOID.

Great Location for the price
Location was great easy walk to shopping, Staff were very friendly and helpful.We had a lovely view of the Petronas Towers room was OK although the Bathroom needs to be renovated very difficult getting in and out of a big slippery bath, Pool area was excellent didn't use the gym but it looked good. Breakfast was very good there was a wide variety, The hotel meet my expectations for my short 3 day stay.

Masya allah, this is the best hotel for everyone searching comfortable for sleep and very clean. everyday keep in touch my room. The maid sociable and superb friendly!!!!!! Especially at floor 5, the supervisor farah super good for service. I will never forget for the memory honeymoon with my wife which is i'm buyed flower and ask the supervisor for surprise and design it for my wife. Maid also prepare me for super cuties candle light dinner!!! Will repeat again in future 😍 thankyou for your good service!!!!

Not worth the price
Poor quality. Damp carpets. Only 1 working power outlet in the room. Location is good, but there are better alternatives in the same area. Some of the hallway lights don't work. The name change to "Royale Chulan" is decieving.

Even when the name still was Royal Bintang the Hotel was not good but at that time still a option to stay at. After probably 8-10 times it is now time to say goodbye and choose another Hotel at the same road. At my last stay, there was a group of probably 1'000 or even more people and it was terrible noisy all night long. To get to the ground floor at 9AM to having breakfast which is also terrible took me around 20 minutes since all elevators are full with people which go up and down and up and down and once have a little chance to jump in, the elevator stops at every floor where another 20 people try to squeeze in....a fight already in the morning..... Also because of my late afternoon flight I was asking to extend the room for a few hours which was more expensive then some other average Hotels close by charge for 1 night....sorry Royal Chulan but never again I will stay with you......
