excellent..nonetheless!except for the turtle release program
firstly, bear in mind, this resort is in its soft launch, all the problems highlighted by other guests are true.but...this is what i honestly think, after spending 3d2n here with my family:
-the place is breathtaking, the beach is the safest for kids, there is a small sand bank that separates the water from the beach, creating a small 'inner-beach' that becomes a safe haven for my kids.the kids can have fun playing in the knee-deep water(at the deepest part) minus the wave, and i did't have to worry about them being washed away by the wave
-dinner is inclusive, but u have to book your slot and time.one night we went 20 minutes early, and was made to wait.it felt like i was back in my boarding school!haha.not the fault of the hotel,as the place is small to accommodate all guests, but i hope this will change in the future.the whole idea of a holiday is to not focus on the time,we hope to be able to saunter into the restaurant and eat whenever we feel like it,in the future,of course
-as mentioned, the whole hotel is perched on the hill,so yes,a lot of stairs.it was not a problem for us as we enjoyed walking, but do bear this in mind if u have the elderly or those with wheelchair
-security was excellent.you see them all over the hotel, even at 2am patrolling outside our villa.hubby was stung with jellyfish during his morning swim, the staff and security were very quick to render their assistance.thank you so much!
-room was beautiful.we were in the 2 bedroom villa.do note that the second bedroom is more like an inner room to the master bedroom.it is perfect for families with kids like us,but if you are 2 couple on a holiday,it might not be comfortable
-they have microwave in the room.two thumbs up for this!
-for good food, drive out to intan seafood, merely 8 mins away from the hotel.(from the hotel, turn left at the entrance).there are some nice places to eat and good coffee place.(ombok cherating serves excellent coffee and mango cheesecake).pls manage your expectation, these places serve good food, simple and unpretentious. cherating itself is a small rustic town still mainly untouched by urbanization. if you are looking for some fancy looking place with white linen table cloth, don't bother
-one point to highlight,is regarding the releasing of the turtle.it is good that the hotel has this initiative where the guests can pay to participate in releasing the baby turtles into the sea,but what i witnessed was appalling.the minute the baby turtles were released, the guests kept taking it back to take pictures, let the kids play with it,releasing it again, catching it,then release until i swear the poor turtles has lost its coordinates.it was easily a good 30 minutes or so before they were finally free from the tortures of the human who wants nothing better than a good selfie with the turtles.it was an act of pure selfishness.if you are reading this, and u plan to go to cherating to release the baby turtles, please, don't engage in these kind of barbaric act.please know that you are paying for the conservation of the turtles, not to play with the poor babies until you feel your money is worth.those selfish people has certainly spoilt my evening at the beach.to the hotel management, please do something about this.have proper enforcement.don't allow the guests to touch the turtles once they are released.
-all in all,we had fun for the whole time we were there.the staff were very friendly and helpful.nothing was too much to ask.kudos to the royal chulan cherating team.we will return, surely!
