By Flight

Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort is approximately 10 minutes away from Kota Kinabalu International Airport. Kota Kinabalu International Airport is the main gateway to Sabah and situated around 7 km from the city centre. Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia and Malindo Air offer direct flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Kota Kinabalu International Airport and flights are available daily. Flights from Kuala Lumpur will take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Airport buses and taxis are both available at the airport to take travellers into the city. Bus tickets into the city will cost RM5 and will leave every 1 hour whereas taxis will cost RM30 per trip. Ride-hailing services such as Grab is also available in Kota Kinabalu. Alternatively, you can also contact the hotel directly to arrange for an airport pickup. An airport representative will be waiting for you at the arrival terminal.

By Car

For those wanting to self-drive around Kota Kinabalu can easily find car rental services at the airport itself. However, car rentals in the city offer far more competitive prices. Mount Kinabalu Golf Club – The golf club is situated 0.54 km from the resort. It is situated on the Pinosuk Plateau at 1,500 meters above sea level in Kundasang. It is also the highest golf layout in Sabah. Designed by Robert Muir Graves, the golf course boasts a breathtaking landscape made up of sprawling farmlands and rolling hills.

Tanjung Aru Beach – The beach is located 0.78 km from the resort. It is located at the end of Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and about 6 kilometres from Kota Kinabalu. It is a favourite among the locals as this is a place where one might catch one of the greatest sunsets in Borneo. There are also food stalls serving local food and drinks up until late at night.

Tanjung Aru Perdana Park – The park is located 0.92 km away from the resort. Perdana Park offers a range of recreational activities such as a running track, exercise areas and a reflexology path. Children can also have fun at any of the two playgrounds found here.Visitors are also spoilt for choice with the wide selection of eateries found here. But the main attraction of Perdana Park is none other than the musical water fountain which comes alive from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, Mondays to Thursdays. On weekends, the performance runs an extra half hour.
