My son and I spent 3 days and 2 nights there, and we tried each of the restaurants. The food was great, and the swimming pools were very nice. There were also plenty of activities to enjoy — a game room, a VR room, and even a small cinema. We also booked some water activities with Star Marine. We definitely plan to come back again.

This place is consistently fantastic. The site itself is beautiful and really well appointed. The views are stunning, and sunset just sensational. Well worth the cost to enjoy the sunset bar. Food options are great - we used most of these during our stay. The breakfast is wonderful, with a great range to cater to all tastes.
The main thing that makes this place amazing though is the staff. All our interactions with staff were fantastic. Haniff over in food and beverages will do whatever he can to make your stay special - and has an incredible memory for the details of the guests. Brandon who took care of us on our hotel organised trip to Sapi Island was fantastic - knowledgeable, kind to our daughter, and made sure we got out to the reef to snorkel before it was understandably closed due to low tide. All staff, from those in the kids water area and in the games room, to those looking after your room and helping with bags, were great. We'd stayed right before coming to this hotel at another, big, "5 star" place not far away - also with nice features - but what makes the difference is how you are made to feel at Shangri-La Tanjang Aru. That is what made our holiday.
(I can only hope that the hotel managers do not expand further and risk losing what makes this place special. There is a pretty warehouse for people wanting to take instagram photos up the road - keep this place the treasure it is!)

The Shangti-La is just a step up from other hotels. Yes, it's big and busy but the staff go out of their way to really spoil you. I'm vegan and they bent over backwards to ensure I had a great breakfast, sent soy milk to my room tweaked dishes so I ate well. And the location - oh my. We stayed in a garden room and could walk straight out looking at the sea. Room had a shower and a bath, was well stocked. Water in the fridge every day. Their Spa was great too. I can't think of anything bad about the place. We just didn't want to leave.

I have traveled the world many times. Over 1,000,000 miles in the air last I checked. I have stayed in slums and I have stayed in resorts. This is the best place I have stayed by far and for a great price. The food was great, staff was very friendly and attentive, all spoke English pretty well. The room service was divine and the buffets were insanely assorted and delicious. It is a short boat ride to different islands for snorkeling and water activities. Additionally if you upgrade you get access to free food and alcohol for afternoon tea and adults time in the restaurant. They also have so many activities for children and you can drop your child around 11am and have that romantic vacation you have been wanting while your kids play.

Stayed in Tanjung ocean view which got nice sunset view. All staff- room service, breakfast room , pool area, are all excellent. Check in was good, got upgrade . Pool was very old but maintained very well and clean. Beach area was not that good. Breakfast got everything, fresh juice, fruits pomelo etc. noodle sections. As mentioned before by others late check out is not allowed even when hotel is less than a third full. We were given “ star lounge access for staying on but as mentioned by others nothing in there except toilets.

What a delightful stay ! From the moment we walked up the steps to the sound of the gong ,cool towels and refreshing drinks- friendly and accommodating staff - we knew we were in for a treat . Hotel surrounds and pool are beautiful , the yoga class in the morning right next to the water was a lovely way to start the day. Food plentiful and delicious with a huge variety of dishes. Always something going on and yet blissful places to be still and relaxed. The staff are always smiling and will go out of their way to help .Best 4 days we have spent in a long time - we will be back for sure - terima kasih Shangri La Tanjung Aru for a wonderful stay .

We loved our stay, the hotel is beautiful, with fantastic facilities. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel so welcome. The breakfast selection was extensive, and although busy when we were there, it was very well managed. We had access to the Club Lounge, and this was fabulous. The pool was wonderful. We also used the Star Jetty for an island transfer and water sports and the service here was great too. All in all, a fantastic hotel for a family holiday, and we would very much recommend.

My son and I spent 3 days and 2 nights there, and we tried each of the restaurants. The food was great, and the swimming pools were very nice. There were also plenty of activities to enjoy — a game room, a VR room, and even a small cinema. We also booked some water activities with Star Marine. We definitely plan to come back again.

This place is consistently fantastic. The site itself is beautiful and really well appointed. The views are stunning, and sunset just sensational. Well worth the cost to enjoy the sunset bar. Food options are great - we used most of these during our stay. The breakfast is wonderful, with a great range to cater to all tastes.
The main thing that makes this place amazing though is the staff. All our interactions with staff were fantastic. Haniff over in food and beverages will do whatever he can to make your stay special - and has an incredible memory for the details of the guests. Brandon who took care of us on our hotel organised trip to Sapi Island was fantastic - knowledgeable, kind to our daughter, and made sure we got out to the reef to snorkel before it was understandably closed due to low tide. All staff, from those in the kids water area and in the games room, to those looking after your room and helping with bags, were great. We'd stayed right before coming to this hotel at another, big, "5 star" place not far away - also with nice features - but what makes the difference is how you are made to feel at Shangri-La Tanjang Aru. That is what made our holiday.
(I can only hope that the hotel managers do not expand further and risk losing what makes this place special. There is a pretty warehouse for people wanting to take instagram photos up the road - keep this place the treasure it is!)

The Shangti-La is just a step up from other hotels. Yes, it's big and busy but the staff go out of their way to really spoil you. I'm vegan and they bent over backwards to ensure I had a great breakfast, sent soy milk to my room tweaked dishes so I ate well. And the location - oh my. We stayed in a garden room and could walk straight out looking at the sea. Room had a shower and a bath, was well stocked. Water in the fridge every day. Their Spa was great too. I can't think of anything bad about the place. We just didn't want to leave.

The Shangri-La was a beautiful well kept resort which was so family friendly.
Their attentiveness to those with families was extraordinary. It made our stay so comfortable and pleasant.
We would definitely recommend the Shangri-La to our family and friends.

The hotel property and bfast are amazing. Nice pools and pvt beach. Very nice. However, the carpet in the room had a terrible smell. The furniture is a little worn but the bathroom has been updated.

Best for holiday trip. hotel facilitate with great equipment/ facilities , food options and scenery. Only the bar menu next to the pool i think its way too much over price and not worth it. The orher restaurant are reasonable.

Prices at restaurants a bit high.

Overall, it is worse than Shangri-La Cebu Mactan. The sunset isn't particularly spectacular, but it's acceptable. Breakfast is not tasty. The staff are not friendly.

I have traveled the world many times. Over 1,000,000 miles in the air last I checked. I have stayed in slums and I have stayed in resorts. This is the best place I have stayed by far and for a great price. The food was great, staff was very friendly and attentive, all spoke English pretty well. The room service was divine and the buffets were insanely assorted and delicious. It is a short boat ride to different islands for snorkeling and water activities. Additionally if you upgrade you get access to free food and alcohol for afternoon tea and adults time in the restaurant. They also have so many activities for children and you can drop your child around 11am and have that romantic vacation you have been wanting while your kids play.

Stayed in Tanjung ocean view which got nice sunset view. All staff- room service, breakfast room , pool area, are all excellent. Check in was good, got upgrade . Pool was very old but maintained very well and clean. Beach area was not that good. Breakfast got everything, fresh juice, fruits pomelo etc. noodle sections. As mentioned before by others late check out is not allowed even when hotel is less than a third full. We were given “ star lounge access for staying on but as mentioned by others nothing in there except toilets.

What a delightful stay ! From the moment we walked up the steps to the sound of the gong ,cool towels and refreshing drinks- friendly and accommodating staff - we knew we were in for a treat . Hotel surrounds and pool are beautiful , the yoga class in the morning right next to the water was a lovely way to start the day. Food plentiful and delicious with a huge variety of dishes. Always something going on and yet blissful places to be still and relaxed. The staff are always smiling and will go out of their way to help .Best 4 days we have spent in a long time - we will be back for sure - terima kasih Shangri La Tanjung Aru for a wonderful stay .

We loved our stay, the hotel is beautiful, with fantastic facilities. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel so welcome. The breakfast selection was extensive, and although busy when we were there, it was very well managed. We had access to the Club Lounge, and this was fabulous. The pool was wonderful. We also used the Star Jetty for an island transfer and water sports and the service here was great too. All in all, a fantastic hotel for a family holiday, and we would very much recommend.
