Beautiful resort.
We visited Tanjong for a relaxing break from our busy work lives and what a wonderful place. The staff are exceptional most remembering your name and always offering to assist. The resort is beautiful and is filled with wildlife, great decor and excellent facilities. The rooms are fantastic and are cleaned twice per day. At no point did we feel like the resort was over crowded leaving you feeling relaxed everyday. We enjoyed the activities, bike ride, snorkelling, markets and everyday had something to offer. Food was great and offered a good selection. Our only suggestions would be to offer pool side services instead of ordering at the restaurants as well as maybe more communication around trips offered for that day (at breakfast maybe) and the process of booking (for eg the snorkelling being booked through the water centre). We also didn't partake in any of the spa facilities as we thought they were a bit pricey compared to other Resorts we have stayed at in Asia. Overall a fantastic holiday!

We came to see the Turtles and to Dive
We chose this hotel as we wanted our children to experience and understand the work towards conservation of turtles. We watched a hatchling release nearly every night - a wonderful dinner at the hotel followed by a walk down the beach to watch a wonderful release of over 100 turtles that had spent the last24 hours hatching in the purpose built hatcheries along from the hotel. A very positive experience - the turtle conservation group Langtengatutles.com have set up a fantastic program where they offer a set sum to buy turtle eggs off Local beach holders instead of watching them being sold at the markets. The turtles are responsibly re nested and when they hatch are Released into the sea. A very worthwhile Program and a definite on the bucket list for conservation for a a big hotel - well done Tanjong Jara for combining high end tourism and conservation! We also spent some Time Diving at the Padi Centre based on site. This Padi Centre has truly wonderful staff - we couldn't give them Higher than 6 out of 5! Great teaching and very efficiently run Centre offering dives from Tenggol island - clean equipment, safe dive masters, very well explained and superb diving .

Beautiful & Relaxing.
Everything about this place is beautiful and relaxing! Right from the security guards, staffs, cooks and maintenance team, everyone was so welcoming. Always greeting you with a smile. The hotel grounds were clean and well kept. Very quiet and relaxing. There are a lot of hammocks and beach gazebos all around for you to lay down and enjoy the sun and sounds of the wind blowing against the trees and the waves. The room was superb! So cosy, clean and nice! Bathroom was huge! Most importantly, the bed was sooooo comfortable. The rooms do not use access cards so you would have to turn on and off switches manually. At the entrance of the room, there is water provided to wash your feet before entering the room. The meals there were really good and filling. Right from the breakfast buffet to lunch and dinner. All venues offered really nice food and views! Also not to forget, they have movie under the stars every night! An outdoor cinema at the adults pool! Overall it has been a lovely and unforgettable stay and would love to go back there for a longer one the next time! By far one of the best resorts in Malaysia! P.S.: If you are a Malaysian or an Expat in Malaysia, get the Residents Package on their website! Its worth it!

A lovely summers break
We looked for ages, and at all sorts of places, for THE ideal holiday destination. We were looking for a real treat, a paradise, where we could escape the world and just relax, leave all the baggage of real life behind and recoup. We found it here. A small (ish) hotel, with two pools, three restaurants and acres of empty sandy beaches. No fight for beach space, beautiful seas (very warm), and - if you need it - helpful and polite service from lovely staff. The food is FANTASTIC, and you are well catered for in all respects. We love it here, and it will be very hard to leave. I must also mention the turtles - they have a charity here which collects turtle eggs from far and wide, and protects them until they hatch, and release these beautiful creatures into the wild at nighttime. Everyone is welcome to participate, and no matter if you are a child, or an adult, you just have to see them. Gorgeous.

And I'd like to give it six.....
I've read a few of the recent reviews so I'm going to honest in my feedback about the resort because - yes - it may not be perfect but the effort and solicitude of the staff make up for any niggling issues that may occur. 1. Resort. Immaculate. The ground staff take huge pride in what they do and that includes the young guy who goes down on the beach before sunrise to collect rubbish and clean up. I watched him for nearly an hour and I don't think he missed a thing. I'd also recommend using some of the facilities - in particular, the Spa! Heavenly massage that definitely got rid of some of those flight knots.... 2. Accommodation. Lush. We had one of the villas by the main pool and it was simply so gorgeous I video'd it and stuck it on Facebook. Again, absolutely spotless, beautifully cool and I have brought home the wonderful welcome note that was waiting for us as well as the notes left by the cleaning staff wishing us a happy holiday. A really nice touch. Tea, coffee, minibar, reading material, TV (not that we bothered when we had that view outside our window), bathroom hospitality supplies, lovely clean and fluffy towels and - last but not least - mozzie pads. 3. Beach & Pools. We didn't venture to the adults pool because it seemed a bit shaded and - quite frankly - living in the Midlands we can visit a pool anytime but it takes forever to get to the sea.... Be advised, people do plonk flip-flops, towels, bags etc onto the beds around breakfast time but this is not something I would - or could - hold the hotel responsible for. It's just your normal 'rush for the sunbeds' mentality. The beach is beautiful - great to wander along instead of the resort pathways. If jellyfish are going to be in the sea the resort will raise a red flag - if it's amber or green you're safe to swim. Thankfully we were green to go for our whole stay :) 4. Food. Ok, so this is where (if I was going to be extremely scathing) I would dock some points. However, the problems we had were redeemed by the resort on the last night so they earned the point back. I agree the food and service time in the Di Atas Sungei restaurant probably need some attention. Either they're under-resourced or they're lacking pace. Easily resolved. The menu was a bit confusing and on the first night we ended up with far too much food so just check exactly what you're ordering before you have to ask for a doggy bag.... One particular meal was really not up to scratch (Monosodium Glutamate overdose) so I didn't bother eating it. As we were leaving the restaurant one of the staff rushed over to ask what the problem was so we were honest with them and suggested they needed to think about reviewing the menu. The next day on the beach we were approached by the Manager of the Nelayan restaurant who asked if we would dine with them that night as the Chef wanted to prepare 'something special' for us. That evening we turned up to find we were dining on an individual raised deck next to the sea and were presented with the most sumptuous three course meal. It was fantastic. They'd even 'combed' a path into the beach for us and brought a cocktail waiter up to make me a 'special' cocktail. Whilst I agree there may be some issues, where a Resort and management team push the boat out to rectify the problem I can only give them the kudos they deserve. I should add that the meal was provided free of charge. Outstanding. In summary, I would highly recommend this Resort. I've travelled all over the world on holiday and on business but never have I come across a team that are so intent on providing customer satisfaction and who take such pride in where they work and what they do. Well done to everyone.
