Great Room - Strange Service
The room was wonderful. We fell in love the minute we entered. Stunning downtown view, excellent location, quiet, decent free internet, gym, swimming pool, stove, fridge, and washer/dryer (microwave would be nice). Above the Invito Hotel (same elevators). Apparently the top floors of the Invito Hotel are private units. A group of those units are rented out as The C Suites, completely separate business from the hotel. The C Suites has no reception! Online booking instructions are to contact the C Suites 24 hours before arrival. We overlooked that, and received an SMS and whatsapp asking about our arrival. When we responded, we were given our room number and instructions. Go past the hotel reception to the residents mail room. Not obvious as you must go through an unmarked door. Find the mailbox for your unit. Stick your hand into the flap at the top for mail delivery, and find your key on the hook inside. OK, not to bad. But no housekeeping after the first night! We contacted the manager, or whoever the message sender was. "You can request room cleaned", he said. We said "Please clean. Is there a schedule?" He said "Do you want room cleaned everyday?" We said clean every day would be nice. He said he would talk to his colleague about "help you clean every day". Then we got normal cleaning service for the rest of our 6 nights, although sheets were only changed on request, and there were a few glitches - water not replaced once, coffee twice, and a bag of trash was left in room once. Then he requested that we leave a tip for the cleaner. Tips are not expected in Malaysia but also not unusual, but very unusual to be asked to leave a tip. We left a small gratuity when we left. Two burned out bulbs in the bathroom were never replaced in spite of a request. TV did not have international channels. The kitchen area was relatively well supplied, but there was only one spoon (5 forks). No hand towels (common in Asia), so bath towel had to be used in the kitchen. Fridge needed defrosting. Shower drain was nice looking, but did not work well. If not cleaned daily, water would overflow the shower. Higher floors than the hotel, meaning better views, and a little cheaper, but I am sure the hotel service must be better, based on reviews. The contact person always responded quickly, using regular SMS (text), email, whatsapp and line, depending on our preference. Overall, great room if you are patient with the check in and service problems.
