Good Budget Hotel
I like this hotel because it is occupied the ground floor with lobby reception. In addition, there are a few public car parking lots next to the entrance as compared to other budget hotel nearby. The room environment is nice, air-cond is cold and functioning properly with good shower heater. It is surrounded for many convenience stores and restaurants. It is better to check-in after 7 o'clock if you want to park the car in front of the hotel.

Basic, cheap - what else would you want?
I had a course in the nearby HUKM and had wanted a place where it is relatively painless to get to and fro (i.e. no jams) and also somewhere near eateries so that I don't have to get on a cab just to get a decent meal. I contemplated FB Hotel, which is almost the same distance and also V Garden but eventually decided on The Room Hotel. V Garden was a little out of the way and was in the middle of heavy construction and there were only chinese coffeeshops and stalls around the area. Though I am sure the hotel itself is wonderful - I was just looking for something else to suit my needs at that moment. The Room Hotel is a no frills budget hotel located in the quaint area of Bandar Tasik Permaisuri. Around the hotel are blocks of buildings which were mostly occupied by workshops and car cosmesis shops. During the day, I noticed parking can be a bit of a problem, but I travelled to and from HUKM using a taxi or even walked so there was no problem there. The road leading to Bandar Sri Permaisuri is just off the busy Yusof Latiff Road, and it borders the Taman Tasik Permaisuri. The distance is about 1.5km and on two evenings, after the day had ended, I just enjoyed my stroll back to the hotel on the pedestrian friendly road. One part of the road (near the quiet corner of the park) was a little lonely, but cars were constantly whizzing through and I suppose if you're always alert of your surroundings, things should be ok. Walking at a moderate pace took me about 25-30mins - a taxi would cost you about RM5-6 - depending on the traffic. Rooms are basic - prices varied from about RM60ish to about RM180 (I think) for the bigger two-roomed suites. I chose the junior suite which basically meant a bigger room with windows. The bed was basically a mattress on a slightly raised platform on the floor. There was a table but no chair and the bathroom was basically a closet-like space against the wall. But, the mattress was comfy, the sheets and pillow clean and the aircond was working. TV had basic channels - TV1, TV3 and Al Hijrah and Channel 8, if I'm not mistaken and on some nights, the receptionist down stairs would remember to switch to Astro Ria and you get doses of Maharaja Lawak repeats. There is a water heater in the toilet and water pressure was adequate - so I had no complaints there. Only a soap dispenser is provided, I didn't even have tissue in my toilet. I would advise future customers to bring a couple plastic hangers to hang their clothes - there is only one hook on the wall for this purpose. Towels are provided but - you can almost see through them so whether you feel comfortable about using it is up to yourselves. Taxis are rather easy to get, there is a taxi stand on the main road behind the hotel and I only had to wait a maximum of 5-10 minutes before I could flag one down. The hotel has no in room dining - but a hot and cold water machine is placed on each floor near the lifts and a plastic glass and a jug is supplied. There are no iron in the room - you will have to request one from the counter; I had to wait till the next day to get one because someone was already using the iron when I asked initially (Hotel management should really think about getting more). and there is no proper table on which you could iron your clothes properly. I made do by folding the already threadbare towel on a shelf near the power point. Nearby is a rather good Thai restaurant - and basically food wise you are spoilt for choice - there are at least 2 24-hour restaurants, both Pizza Hut and Domino's - one satay outlet and dozens of cafes. There are several convenience shops, a few clinics and also hairdressers. There's even one pet store. If you're staying in the area for the long run, don't worry, self service laundro-mats are aplenty. I had no encounters with insects but on my last day found a baby roach in my sink and another teen roach scurrying away in the corridors so I am sure the family is hiding around somewhere. I don't really have anything bad to say about this hotel - it is basically what it says on the tin. I didn't expect 5* treatment because of how cheap it was - I just wanted a place to stay for the duration of my course.
