BEST HOSTEL IN PENANG
Have you ever wondered about going to a country and staying in a hostel that isn't boring?search no more peeps, tipsy tiger party hostel is the number hostel I will recommend anyone to stay.the environment is clean, the staff are friendly.you will never be bored for just one second while staying in tipsy tiger.it's closer to Armenia street for travellers who want to explore the street arts.and also closer to the best burger in chulia street(old Trafford burger).try that burger and thank me later lol.its also closer to little India where u can get cheap foods.I have never seen a hostel in my life that can bring people from around the world together the way they do.just a night in tipsy tiger will convince you of what I am saying, so don't miss out because there is no other hostel you would rather want to be.

You'll be more than just tipsy.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. I had a blast at tipsy and the atmosphere was great. Ideal location too. Even though it's a party hostel it's clean and comfortable with friendly staff. I was only supposed to stay 4 nights but ended up volunteering and staying another 2 weeks.

This is literally just a party hostel. Wouldn't recommend staying here unless you want to party every night. 2 free drinks are given to guests on each night of the stay between 8-9pm which is a good way of meeting others in the hostel. Staff were friendly enough on check in and when the bar was open in the evenings however don't expect them to be as helpful with planning or advising day time activities, hostel just seemed to care about partying not also abort exploring Georgetown/Penang. The location was good - walkable to everywhere in Georgetown (including the ferry ports from Butterworth and Langkawi) and very close to little India for cheap food. Breakfast was decent with a good selection (toast, cereal, pancakes and fruit). Rooms were quite cramped but they were comfortable and clean. There aren't many showers available for how many guests there are but always had hot water and were clean. Overall we had an alright stay but only stay here if you want to party! The music did however always stop around 11.30pm so it is possible to sleep :)

Excellent staff, saw to me straight away despite arriving very late and when the party was in full swing with backpack and all and they try to get all involved and there is a great atmosphere! 2 very strong drinks in happy hour! But if you pay for something apart from a drink make sure you get a receipt as I had an issue with this with the owner!

Dissapointed
I'm not one to write reviews but I feel like I have to say something. Like all the other reviews, the hostel is a great place for being social and meeting new people. It can be a lot of fun. However, during my stay two incidents occurred that forced me to check out of the hostel a day early because I no longer felt safe. First, my phone and money was stolen out of my room while I was sleeping. Second, I was pushed against a wall and sworn at by a man who hangs around. There is a Nigerian man named Alex (Not sure about the name) who often visits the hostel, he is known to be aggressive and rude. Girls, be sure to be careful around him if you do see him. He is not a nice human being at all. As much as these two incidents were upsetting, the way the staff handled it was very very pour. I told them about the phone and they told me why didn't you lock up your phone? Of course, I know now I should have done that... but who honestly doesn't keep their phones with them as they SLEEP? I'll be smarter next time, it was bad luck. While I was checking out, the person working was so rude to me and basically getting angry at me for deciding to leave. I made no big deal about leaving and she made me feel like this was all my fault. I just wanted to get out of there. The absolute worst part of all of this was when I informed them about getting pushed. They completely brushed off the incident and told me that he's is just like that and that they won't speak to him. The fact that they KNOW he is aggressive and continues to let him hang around is completely unacceptable. Violence against women is 100% not okay, and to sweep this sort of thing under the rug is to basically condone his behaviour. There should be measures put in place to make sure everyone feels safe. I'm just really disappointed. I'm sorry that I have to write this sort of review, as there are some really great parts of staying here- I just hope that if this sort of thing happens again that they take it more seriously.
