Economy Class

Economy Class on Thai AirAsia X is available for those who want to experience long-haul flights at an affordable price. A passenger is allowed to bring a maximum cabin baggage of 7 kg and a maximum checked baggage of 20 kg. Passengers can enjoy food and drink, from Thai cuisine to international meals, at certain prices while traveling with Thai AirAsia X.

In-flight Meal

Passengers in Economy Class can only order one food item and one drink item. For example, for an ASEAN Combo Set, passengers will get a portion of pineapple rice and a choice of a can of soda or a bottle of green tea.

Premium Class (The Quite Zone)

Premium Class on Thai AirAsia X—also known as The Quiet Zone—is available for passengers who want to feel the comfort of Business Class, with less noise during the flight. Every Premium Class passenger is entitled to 25 kg of checked baggage. Food and drinks, such as bottled mineral water, carbonated drinks, or coffee, are available during the flight.

In-flight Meal

Passengers in Premium Class always get the top priority on Thai AirAsia X, and this also applies for meals. They can purchase more than one set of meals during their flight. They can order, for example, a portion of Biryani rice and water, as well as some peanuts for snacks.

Business Class

Business Class on Thai AirAsia X features upholstered leather seats for passengers who want to experience a comfortable long-haul flights at affordable prices. Business Class passengers are entitled to 40 kg of checked baggage allowance.

In-flight Meal

Passengers sitting in the Business Class can order more than one portion of food and drink. For instance, in addition to the ASEAN Combo Set, they can order ASEAN dessert. The choices of dessert include coconut pudding, mango sticky rice crepe, and fresh orange juice called Orange Sunshine. Carbonated drinks and snacks, such as chocolates and peanuts, are also available.

Thai AirAsia X Flight Attendant Uniform

The Thai AirAsia X male flight attendant uniform is dominated by the color black. They are dressed in black suits with high collars, with a shirt or a white T-shirt underneath, completed with black trousers and shoes. Meanwhile, the female flight attendants wear bright red uniforms, in line with the color of Thai AirAsia X logo. They wear a red blazer with ¾ sleeves, also with a white blouse underneath, together with knee-length red skirts. The uniform is completed with dark-coloured, low-heeled shoes. All Thai AirAsia X flight attendants wear the AirAsia logo pin on the left chest of their black suits or red blazers.

Thai AirAsia X Passenger Policy

Infant Passenger Policy (0-2 Years Old)
  • Infants younger than 9 days old are not allowed to be onboard.
  • Thai AirAsia X provides special flight schedules for passengers carrying infants, depending on the destination and time. Passengers can check the schedule at AirAsia official website.
  • The medical certificate must be issued 72 hours or three days before the standard departure time.
  • Infant traveling on Batik Air must have the Form of Indemnity signed by the parents.
  • Infant passengers should be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian during the flight. The adult guardian should at least be 18 years old and know how to handle the infant.
  • One adult guardian can only have one baby on their lap.
  • Strollers should not be taken into the cabin, but can be carried as a checked baggage.
  • Due to the limitation of special passenger services for infant passengers in Thai AirAsia X, it is most likely that only a few infant passengers are allowed to fly on one plane.
Child Passenger Policy (2-12 Years Old)
  • Child passengers under 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or an adult guardian, who is at least 18 years old.
  • Child passengers between 12 to 17 years old are allowed to travel alone. The parent or legal guardian must sign the Limited Liability Statement during check-in at the airport to release the airline from any responsibility should problems occur during the flight.
  • Child passengers should sit on an individual seat and not on the lap of their parent or adult guardian during the flight.
Pregnant Passenger Policy
  • Pregnant passengers are required to notify the airline of the condition and age of their pregnancy before making a booking.
  • Pregnant passengers are allowed to cancel or reschedule their flights in the event of an emergency relating to their pregnancy.
  • Pregnant passengers are required to sign the Limited Liability Statement during check-in at the airport to release the airline from any responsibility should problems occur during the flight. However, this does not apply to passengers flying to and from the United States.
  • Passengers with a pregnancy of 28 to 34 weeks must submit a medical certificate from a doctor appointed by Thai AirAsia X, confirming the condition of the pregnancy. The certificate must be issued within 30 days of the departure date. However, this does not apply to passengers flying to and from the United States.
  • Passengers with a pregnancy of 35 weeks or above are not allowed onboard.
Disabled Passenger Policy
  • Passengers requiring special assistance must notify the airline at least 48 hours before departure. Passengers are required to confirm the services or special assistance needed so that the airline can make arrangements accordingly. Failure to notify the airline my result in the unavailability of the services.
  • Wheelchairs or other walking-assistance tools must be checked into the baggage, or sent directly to the destination location.

About Thai AirAsia X

Thai AirAsia X (IATA code: XJ) is part of the airline AirAsia X, and is affiliated with Virgin Group and Air Canada. Thai AirAsia X serves all long-haul flights from Don Muang International Airport in Bangkok. Operating since 2013, Thai AirAsia X uses six Airbus A330-300 aircraft, with an average age of 8 years old. On 21 October 2008, AirAsia X received its first A330 aircraft in Toulouse, France. For seven consecutive years, from 2009 to 2015, the World Airline Survey by Skytrax had named Thai AirAsia X as the airline with the Best Affordable Rates Around the World. The airline also received a similar award from Skytrax on 12 July 2016 at Farnborough International Airshow in England. The award was received by CEO of AirAsia Group, Tony Fernandez, and President of AirAsia Indonesia, Ridzeki Tresno Wibowo. Thai AirAsia X provides its passengers with a free cabin baggage allowance of no more than 7 kg. The cabin baggage must also fit in the overhead compartment above the passenger’s seat or under the seat in front of the passenger. Economy Class passengers do not receive free baggage allowance, but Business Class passengers are entitled to 20 kg of checked baggage free of charge. Thai AirAsia X also offers its passengers extra conveniences. One of the advantages of Thai AirAsia X is the Quiet Zone facility on rows 7 to 14. This zone is also a favorite to many passengers in need of some quiet time during the flight. The Quiet Zone can minimize the usual commotion which is often heard in Economy Class. Passengers in this section are expected to be quiet. The lighting in this zone is also very soft, so as to not not disturb passengers who want to rest. Passengers in the Quiet Zone will receive their meals quicker than those in other classes, have more spacious legroom, and be able to enjoy extra pillows and blankets, so that they can have a total relaxation during the flight. Thai AirAsia X also offers its passengers extra facilities, such as shopping catalogs that are available onboard. These shopping catalogs can give passengers ideas on what to get their loved ones, should they’ve forgot to buy them souvenirs. AirAsia X also works with OptionTown, which offers three types of services to enhance passengers’ comfort during their flights, all at affordable prices. The three services include Upgrade Travel Option (UTo), Empty Seat Option (ESo), and Flight Pass Option (FPo). Upgrade Travel Option (UTo) allows passengers to request an upgrade for their flight classes, from Economy Class to AirAsia X Premium Flatbed. Meanwhile, passengers requiring a higher level of privacy can utilize ESo. ESo is useful only if passengers travel alone or in pairs, but still need a certain amount of private space. FPo is suitable for passengers requiring a high level of flexibility and cost savings when booking their flight tickets, as it allows passengers to conveniently pre-purchase a number of flights at an agreed price and enjoy the privilege of booking flights later per the passenger’s need. Thai AirAsia X History

Thai AirAsia X was established in 2007. The airline is a joint venture of AirAsia X, a sister company of AirAsia. AirAsia X began its operation on 2 November 2007 with a flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia, to Gold Coast Airport in Australia. AirAsia X, which was formerly known as FlyAsianXpress Sdn. Bhd., runs budget long-haul flights. The idea to build the company came from Tony Fernandes, CEO of AirAsia, who on 11 April 2007 announced that FlyAsianXpress’s rural routes would be transferred to Firefly, a subsidiary airline of Malaysia Airlines. Later that month, the Malaysian Government issued a statement that Malaysia Airlines would take control of the rural air service (RAS) operations of FlyAsianXpress. The government also guaranteed that they would bear any financial loss. Malaysia Airlines, under MASwings, officially announced its acquisition of the RAS operations of FlyAsianXpress on 1 October 2007. As MASwings took over the RAS operation of FlyAsianXpress, the latter changed its name from FlyAsianXpress Sdn. Bhd. to AirAsia X Sdn. Bhd. AirAsia X has since had a new marketing focus, that is to serve low-cost long-haul flights. On 17 May 2007, Tony Fernandes declared a plan to operate cheaper flights from Malaysia to Australia. Avoiding Sydney Airport due to its high fees, he planned to concentrate on Williamtown Airport in Newcastle, Melbourne's Avalon Airport, and Adelaide Airport. In August 2007, AirAsia X announced that it would open its inaugural route from Kuala Lumpur to Gold Coast with fares starting from MYR 50 (AUD$17). It was later announced that 20% of AirAsia X’s shares would be bought by Sir Richard Branson of the Virgin Group. As a result, the airline was able to finance its aircraft purchases. The next month, the first AirAsia X aircraft arrived, and was called "Semangat Sir Freddie" or "the Spirit of Sir Freddie”, marking a big leap for the company. As a low-cost carrier, AirAsia X claims to have one of the lowest operating costs of any airlines operating long-haul flights in the world. To reduce its operating costs, the airline organizes different aspects of their operations with its larger affiliate, AirAsia. All of the staff requirements, marketing, fuel-hedging, and computer systems are meticulously calculated. This strategy has allowed the company to take economic advantage beyond the normal scale, thus making it possible for it to provide cheaper flights with maximum convenience. Based in Malaysia, AirAsia X flies to destinations within Asia and Australia with its 31 aircraft. One year after its establishment, in 2008, AirAsia X received the inaugural the New Airline of The Year award by the Center for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA). On 18 September 2013, AirAsia X signed an agreement with their shareholders, Tassapon Bijleveld and Julpas Krueospon. A new company with the name Thai AirAsia X Company Limited would own 49% of AirAsia X’s shares. The company’s new airline, Thai AirAsia X, was developed in 2014. On 3 February in the same year, Thai AirAsia X received its Air Operator’s Certificate from the Department of Civil Aviation of Thailand. Due to its reference to the LCC (low-cost carrier) rate, Thai AirAsia X provides 12 seats in Business Class and 365 seats in Economy Class. With the slogan"Now Everyone Can Fly Extra Long”, initially Thai AirAsia X served six flight routes to three countries, which are Japan, Korea, and Thailand. On 16 May 2016, Thai AirAsia X opened routes to Tehran, Iran. The flight service to Tehran first commenced operations on 21 and 22 June 2016. Since Iran is an Islamic country, Thai AirAsia X adjusted the uniform of its airline crew in respect of the country’s culture. Female flight attendants wear long-sleeved red blazers and slacks, completed with black headscarves and shoes. Pilots, on the other hand, wear white shirts, black or dark blue trousers, ties that match the color of their trousers, and loafers. What marks them as a member of the Thai AirAsia X crew is the insignia worn around their neck. However, in December 2016, Thai AirAsia X discontinued its Middle Eastern operations. All flights to Tehran and Muscat had also been canceled.
