Established in 1984, Xiamen Airlines became the first airline company to operate as a modern enterprise in China. Its headquarter is located in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, on the southeast coast of China. Xiamen Airlines Seat Class

Economy Class

Economy Class passengers can enjoy not only comfortable seats with spacious leg room, but also an in-flight entertainment system offering various contents, from music videos to movies, which are periodically updated. Since December 2005, Xiamen Airlines has also provided free WiFi on flights that serve five of its key routes, which include Xiamen – Sydney, Fuzhou – Sydney, Xiamen – Amsterdam, Xiamen – Beijing, and Fuzhou – Beijing.

In-flight Meal

All Economy Class passengers flying with Xiamen Airlines get to enjoy such refreshments as a bottle of Zishan water, a 250 ml Zhonglv Corn Milk (available on flights originating from Xiamen), a cup of Tieguanyin tea, or a cup of Nescafe coffee. Additionally, passengers can choose from Chinese and Western delicacies, from fried rice to pasta, as their main dining menu, which can be accompanied by a glass of juice or soft drink.

Business Class

Each Business Class seat comes with an ottoman, allowing the seat to become a bed when fully reclined. Underneath the ottoman is a storage compartment that can be used to store laptop, shoes, or others. During the flight, passengers can enjoy an in-flight entertainment with noise canceling headphones. A pair of slippers, a hot towel and an amenity kit by Crabtree & Evelyn, consisting of earplugs, an eye mask, a comb, a toothbrush and toothpaste, lip balm, lotion, and an iPhone pouch, are also provided for Business Class passengers. The Business Class cabin also offers free WiFi for all its passengers.

In-flight Meal

Before departure, Business Class passengers will be served with refreshments. Among the selections are champagne, fruit tea, Huiyuan Orange Juice, Zishan Tomato Juice, Ganten Purified Water, Wong Lo Kat Herbal Tea, Lapsang Souchong Tea, Nescafe, Yanjing Beer, and Chivas. They also may enjoy these beverages with their meal. The menu varies from Chinese to Western cuisines, from Seafood Wu Mu Noodle and American Ginseng Chicken Soup, to Stir Fries Lobster Tail with Vegetables and Rice. All meals are served on porcelain dinnerware designed by international designer Venia Giota.

First Class

With just one row seat in a 1-2-1 configuration, Xiamen Airlines’ First Class cabin is quite intimate. All seats are fully flat and feature direct aisle access. The seat’s controls are located on the left armrest, while the right side of the seat is a big open storage area equipped with entertainment controls, USB outlets, headphone jack, and headphones. There is also an 110V outlet on the front right of the seat. Each passenger will get an amenity kit by Crabtree & Evelyn, as well as a blanket, a pair of slippers, and a hot towel. Meanwhile, passengers traveling on a long haul flight will receive a set of pajamas as an additional facilities.

In-flight Meal

Similar with Business Class, the in-flight meal in First Class also varies from Chinese to Western Cuisines but with different menus. Some of them are Duck Soup with Anoectochilus Formosanus, Braised Beef Short Ribs with Scallion, Vegetables, and Rice, and Baked Cod with Garlic Butter, Vegetables, and Spaghetti. Passengers will be also served with a great selection of wine, such as Perrier Jouet Grand Brut, Rutherford Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Three Steps Chardonnay 2013, and Wolfberger Edelzwicker 2013.

Egret Club

Xiamen Airlines has designed a special frequent flyer program called Egret Club, which provides its most valuable passengers with many benefits. The airline cooperates with various well known brands to offer its Egret Club members diverse mile-earning opportunities and award redemption choices. An Egret Club member can earn miles by flying with Xiamen Airlines or SkyTeam partner airlines, accumulate them and redeem them for award tickets, award upgrades, and exquisite products from Xiamen Airlines’ online mart, etc. Egret Club has two membership tier levels, which are Silver and Gold. There is also an Egret Junior Card program that is designed for children and young travelers between the ages of 2 and 23 years old.

Airport Lounge

As one of its ground services, Xiamen Airlines provides First Class lounge near Gate 3 in the departure hall at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. The First Class lounge is furnished with TV sets, telephones, newspapers, and magazines. It also offers a buffet of fresh fruits, pastries,beverages and snacks. However, this airport lounge facility is only available for Xiamen Airlines First Class passengers and Xiamen Airlines VIP cardholders flying with Xiamen Airlines.

Xiamen Airlines female flight attendants wear a bright blue, knee-length straight dress with three-quarter sleeves, blending classic yet modern shapes with comfort and style. A dark blue wide belt gives the uniform a better shape and a stylish black beret completes the look. Inspired by the airline’s own color palette, the uniform features a fresh, classic look dominated by different shades of blue, from light blue to royal and dark blue. Meanwhile, the male flight attendants wear classic three-piece suits in blue, consistent with the visual identity of the airline.

Xiamen Airlines Passenger Policy

Infant Passenger Policy (0-2 Years Old)
  • Passengers under 2 years old may travel with Xiamen Airlines on their parents’ or guardians’ lap.
  • Infant passengers will be charged 10% of the full adult fare.
  • Passengers who book separate seats for their infants will have to book them at the child fare, which is 50% of the full adult fare.
  • Passengers traveling with two infants must purchase a separate seat for the second infant at the child fare.
  • Infant passengers traveling without seats on domestic flights are not entitled to free baggage allowance, but one fully collapsible stroller or pushchair is accepted free of charge.
  • Infant passengers traveling without seats on international or regional flights are allowed a piece of checked baggage weighing up to 10 kg and measuring up to 115 cm, as well as a collapsible stroller or pushchair.
  • On all flights, children and infants paying the child fare are entitled to the same free baggage allowance as adult passengers.
Child Passenger Policy (2-12 Years Old)
  • Passengers between 2 and 12 years old must have their own seat and are charged the child fare.
  • The child fare is 50% of the applicable full adult fare on domestic flights and 75% of the applicable full adult fare on regional and international flights.
  • Xiamen Airlines offers Unaccompanied Minor service for children traveling alone.
  • Only children from 5 to 11 years old can apply for the Unaccompanied Minor service.
  • For Unaccompanied Minors, Xiamen Airlines charges the applicable full adult fare.
  • The Unaccompanied Minor service must be requested at the time of reservation.
  • This service is only available at Xiamen Airlines ticketing offices or official sales agents.
Pregnant Passenger Policy
  • Pregnant women are classified as passengers with special needs.
  • Acceptance for carriage of such passengers is subject to prior consent and necessary arrangement with Xiamen Airlines and relevant carriers in accordance with Xiamen Airlines’ and the relevant carriers’ regulation.
  • Due to safety, services, and technical reasons, Xiamen Airlines is entitled to limit the number of passengers with special needs on each flight.
Disabled Passenger Policy
  • Xiamen Airlines provides various services for passengers who require assistance in hearing, speech, vision, and mobility.
  • Xiamen Airlines staff will assist passengers with disabilities during boarding, deplaning, transfer, and connecting flights.
  • Xiamen Airlines offers removable chair handrails, wheelchair storage space, and cabin wheelchair depending on the type and age of the aircraft.
  • Many of Xiamen Airlines large aircraft are equipped with accessible bathrooms.
  • Flight attendants will not assist passengers with eating and personal hygiene or help passengers inside the bathroom. They also cannot provide injections and other extraordinary medical services.
  • Passengers with certain disabilities under the following circumstances must use the service of personal safety assistants:
    • Difficulty to understand and respond to safety instructions.
    • Severe hearing and vision impairment that hinders the passenger’s ability to communicate with Xiamen Airlines employees during a safety brief.
    • Mobility impairment that troubles them during an emergency evacuation.
  • A medical certificate issued by a licensed physician is required under the following circumstances and passengers are required to notify the booking service agents during booking if:
    • The passenger needs medical oxygen.
    • The passenger has a serious infectious disease that poses a direct threat to others.
    • The passenger cannot safely complete the flight without extraordinary medical assistance.
  • The medical certificate must be issued within 10 days before departure.

Xiamen Airlines History

Founded in 1984, Xiamen Airlines is a international airline based in Xiamen, Fujian Province, China. Fifty-five percent of the airline’s shares is owned by China Southern Airlines, 34% by Xiamen Construction and Development Group, and 11% by Fujian Investment & Development Group. On the other hand, Xiamen Airlines itself holds a 99.23% stake in Hebei Airlines and 60% stake in Jiangxi Airlines. Xiamen Airlines has the longest continuous record of operating profit among any non government-owned airline companies and is the only company in China to experience 30 consecutive profitable years. With a total asset of RMB 40 billion, net asset of RMB 16 billion, and an asset to debt ratio of 60%, Xiamen Airlines ranks first among Chinese companies. In 2015 alone, the airline concluded the year with a 22.77 million passengers and a profit of CNY 1,800 million. For years, Xiamen Airlines has always prioritized safety assurance and service improvement. This dedication has helped Xiamen Airlines accumulate over 3.5 million safe flying hours and be named the Best Airline Company by Chinese passengers for three consecutive years from 2012 to 2015.
