Icebreaker Garinko II / Garinko III IMERU

In summer, it also operates as a sightseeing fishing boat around Monbetsu Port, so you can enjoy sightseeing and fishing.

The front end of the icebreaker is equipped with an "Archimedes-style spiral" to experience the thrill of spinning ice. Sounkyo Onsen Ice Waterfall Festival

"Sounkyo Onsen Ice Waterfall Festival" is the most representative large-scale ice festival in Hokkaido. In the huge venue with a width of 10,000 square meters, you can see about 30 ice sculptures and ice and snow buildings, large and small, everywhere, and experience the taste of the ice kingdom. After nightfall, colorful lights will be lit on the ice sculptures, creating a dreamlike space.

Three months before the festival debut, preparations had to start. On the skeleton made of logs, the water of the Ishikari River flowing through the venue is continuously poured, and the steps of freezing and carving are repeated to carefully create ice statues one after another.

Sounkyo is also known as one of the few hot spring towns in Hokkaido. Sounkyo is flowed by the Ishikari River, the longest river in Hokkaido, thus forming a huge valley with cliffs stretching for 24 kilometers. It is also thanks to its precipitous terrain and harsh climate that the winter art that even waterfalls will freeze can be bred from it. Asahiyama Zoo
