- Attractions-

[Asahiyama Zoo]

Asahikawa Zoo, located in the northernmost part of Japan, was built in 1967 and has now become a representative attraction in Hokkaido. About 120 species of animals inhabit the area of approximately 152,000 square kilometers. There was a time when it was almost forced to close due to the decrease in the number of tourists. Afterwards, the facilities were improved and it no longer just displayed animals like a general zoo. Instead, it allowed everyone to see the living ecology of animals up close through behavioral exhibits, which immediately made a splash and attracted tourists from all over the country to visit, making it a super popular zoo. Nowadays, foreign tourists are also coming in droves, making it more lively. The penguin walk is one of the most popular shows in winter. As soon as the park opens, tourists are eager to queue up to see the penguins walking. The purpose of the penguin walk is to increase the amount of exercise and help the penguins lose weight, but it eventually attracts tourists to watch.

[Shirahige Waterfalls]

Shirahige Waterfalls is the source of the Blue Pond. The deep pool of the waterfall has the same blue color as the Blue Pond. It is one of the few undercurrent waterfalls in Japan. The Biei River is known as the "Blue River". In addition to admiring the waterfall, this is a perfect place to enjoy the new greenery in spring and the red leaves in autumn.

[Blue Pond Illumination]

The starry sky, woods, lakes, and falling snow under the night lights, combined with the on-site illumination, will make you feel like you are in a dream world, which is full of romance! A fantastic visual feast will be presented every 10 minutes. The weather is freezing, so don’t forget to bring warm clothes.

[Patchwork Road]

In the larch windbreak on the hill of the Mild Seven Hills, the Seven Stars tree stands alone on the hill. There are a magical and huge poplar tree "Ken&Mary Tree", a tall tree accompanied by a short tree called "Parent Child Tree", and various kinds of trees in the natural wilderness. Countless, unique views can be admired from any angle.

[Indigo dyeing studio]

In the blue world of Biei town, Hokkaido, beautiful "indigo" is bred on the unvitiated land, and this is what Aizome Yuinomori offers. The studio is committed to creating products and places that are symbiotic with nature, and integrated with the natural landscape and scenery of Biei Town. A comprehensive indigo dyeing experience, including indigo cultivation, indigo dyeing experience, sales of original indigo dyeing products, and indigo tea and Hokkaido ingredients served in the cafe. Here you can admire the artwork while taking in the views of the hills behind the facility. On the other side of the colorful fields, you can enjoy a stunning view of Mount Biei and Mount Tokachi.

[Takushinkan]

In 1987, landscape photographer Shinzo Maeda established a photography gallery called "Takushinkan" in Biei-cho, Hokkaido. Many landscape photos are displayed here so that you can truly feel the beauty of Biei. Next to the Takushinkan, there is a white birch corridor made of white birch trees. The birch corridor planted by Maeda Shinzo is about 250 meters long, and it takes about 5 minutes to complete a circle. Please note that "KEEP OUT" signs are marked everywhere in the white birch corridor. Do not ignore these signs when taking photos.
