Singapore, Singapore

What Singapore lacks in size, it makes up in tons of excitements and endless entertainments. Let your senses lead you deeper into its concrete jungle and discover a whiff of street food or the sight of an ornate temple. While in this city-state, savor its range of dishes, from cheap and cheerful hawker fare to haute cuisine at Michelin-starred restaurants. After shopping and visiting world-class attractions, replenish your energy at one of the green spaces that are spread across the island. You can stay in the city center and relax at Gardens by the Bay or venture further south to Sentosa Island. Having one of the world's most efficient public transport systems surely helps to explore more of Singapore. With so much to offer, the Lion City has become a top destination in Southeast Asia.

How to Go to Singapore

jewel at changi airport singapore

Singapore has a lot of tourist spots and the most convenient way to get to this country to start exploring these places is by plane. Because of Singapore’s small landmass, they have only one international airport. But what they lacked in quantity, they made up for its quality. Changi Airport is one of the most beautiful airports in the world. With the airport itself as one of Singapore’s attractions, arriving at this magnificent airport is a great way to kick-start your vacation.

Getting Around

Trains are the most used mode of transportation in Singapore because the railway system is efficient and affordable. It’s also the fastest way to go from one place to another. Most of the tourist spots are within walking distance from any train station. Another transportation alternative is buses. Riding a bus is the most economical and scenic way of touring the city. Aside from trains and buses, metered taxis are also available in Singapore. This is the most convenient way to go to places that trains and buses can't reach. Take note that there may be surcharges depending on when and where you hail a taxi.

Travel Seasons

chinatown singapore

Singapore's high travel season is from November to early January, and June and July. Crowds may be thicker because of holiday spenders, winter travelers, and holiday festivals. The low season is from August to October. January is usually the wettest and windiest time of the year, so make sure you have raincoats, jackets, and umbrellas if you choose to travel during this month.

Singapore Travel Tips

  • Consider getting a Singapore Tourist Pass if you're going to be frequently using the train.
  • Bring a refillable water bottle when you're out and about. Singapore's tap water is safe to drink, so you can easily refill your bottle once you run out.
  • Pack lightweight clothes. Singapore is hot and humid all year-round. But rain showers may occur anytime, so you should have an umbrella in handy.
  • The standard electrical current used in Singapore is 220-240 volts AC. You can use power plugs with three square prongs. If the charger of your gadgets requires a different plug, you can bring an adapter to be sure.
