Hehuanshan Dark Sky Park
On August 2, 2019, when the Milky Way was shining brightly, "Hehuanshan Dark Sky Park" became Taiwan's first starry sky resource conservation park certified by the International Dark Sky Association (IDA). Starting at 37.1 kilometers, the area extends 500 meters to the left and right along the road, covering five major stargazing spots including Yuanfeng, Kunyang, Wuling, Songxuelou, and Xiaofengkou. All night lighting within the visual field of this area must comply with appropriate management to ensure the quality of starry sky observation and special protection in terms of natural, scientific, educational, and cultural heritage. Here, you can look up at the starry sky and the Milky Way without any light pollution.
The Hehuanshan Dark Sky Park starry sky bus tour conducted a one-month trial operation in December 2019 with the assistance of the Nantou County Government, and will be officially launched into regular operation on April 3, 2020. Departing from Cingjing every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the bus goes to various B&Bs in Cingjing to pick up tourists, and travels to and from Hehuanshan Dark Sky Park. We will provide live star astronomy commentary. Depending on weather and temperature conditions, we will provide warm jackets that are clean and washed regularly.
