Ayutthaya, the second capital city of Siam and a prosperous international trading port. The ruins of the old city now form the Ayutthaya Historical Park, an archaeological site that contains palaces, Buddhist temples, monasteries and statues. Enjoy relatively inexpensive shrimp dishes and a variety of Thai food at Ayutthaya Prawn Market. Visit Wat Mahathat, a royal monastery with a Buddha statue enshrined in a stupa through work Jinshin sarira. Head to Wat Lokayasutharam, located behind the Royal Palace, to see the 42m giant reclining Buddha statue. Relax at Rak-na Cafe (‘Rak' in Thai means love, ‘Na’ means rice field). As the name suggests, you can appreciate the charm of Rakna Cafe and freedom in nature. Take a long tail boat in Pasak River. (For safety reasons, night operation is not operated, Boat times may change depending on the season there is.) See Wat Chaiwatthanaram, a Khmer style temple built by King Phrasat for his mother. Said to have been built as a model of Angkor Wat.
