1. Experience the real Thrill of Mario Kart at Koopa’s Challenge

An augmented reality (AR) ride will throw you right in the middle of a Mario Kart race, where you will compete together with iconic characters like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and more. By using the steering wheel and button to twist, turn and speed throughout the course as well as firing some fire shells at Bowser and his minions who will try to hinder your way.

The ride is completely themed based on the Mario Kart universe, from the familiar background music, sound effects, and iconic locations from the game, but the difference here is where you will need to steer the wheel as if you are riding a kart yourself. 2. Take a Leisure Ride on Yoshi’s Adventure

A perfect place for people who look for a more relaxing and leisure experience. Different from the thrilling ride of the Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge, Yoshi’s Adventure will bring you through the vibrant world of Super Nintendo while riding on the back of Yoshi, your lovable-friendly green dinosaur. As you cruise along the track, you’ll encounter iconic locations and familiar characters from the Yoshi games such as the Shy Guys, Goombas and colorful landscapes.

The ride is suitable for all ages and even offers a supervising companion option for children below a certain height. It is indeed the perfect place to make memories together with your beloved ones.

3. Collect Coins and Compete with Power-Up Bands

Another interactive way you can spend your time in the Nintendo WOrld Japan and maximize your experience throughout your journey in the area. By buying the Power-Up Band which is available to purchase at various locations within the Nintendo World, you will be required to wear it on your wrist and get points through a question mark (?) blocks located randomly around the Nintendo World Area. Simply by tapping your bands on the blocks, you’ll hear the iconic Mario coin collection sound if you succeed on the scan and you will get a virtual coin added to your band’s collection.

Some challenges might require the Power-Up Band to participate. By completing these challenges, it will then reward you with virtual keys which will be needed to unlock specific areas and experience within the park, like battling the Bowser Jr.

To check on how many coins you got, you will need to download the Universal Studios Japan app and sync your band with it.

4. Explore the Beautiful Peach’s Castle

Explore the beautiful castle of the iconic Princess, Peach. The recreation of the beloved castle from the Mario games, complete with its pink towers, bright color, and whimsical details. As you get through the castle’s grand entrance, it welcomes you to the beginning of your journey to the exciting Mushroom Kingdom.

The area is actually a popular spot for taking photos, allowing you to capture your memories of your visit to Super Nintendo World.

5. Greet your childhood companion Mario and Luigi around the Park

Would you like to have a short conversation or take some pictures with one of your childhood companions, Mario and Luigi? In the Super Nintendo World Japan you can fulfill that wish! Mario and Luigi, who are the main character and the most iconic characters in the Nintendo franchise can be found throughout the Super Nintendo World at Universal Studio Japan! You can meet them and have a short conversation with them and take a photo together with both of them at the same time is definitely a highlight for many visitors. It’s not a chance you can find anywhere and anytime. And so, are you gonna take this chance?

6. Battle Bowser Jr.

Not everyone can challenge the Bowser Jr. It is needed for you to collect some keys throughout Super Nintendo World challenges and mini games. While in order to save all of those keys, you will need to purchase the Power-Up Band beforehand. If you have trouble on where to collect the keys, you are allowed to ask some of the staff around on where to go to get the keys. If you already collect all of the keys needed, it is where your battle begins.

Look for the entrance which is often marked by a giant Bowser silhouette or themed signage, then prepare yourself for an exciting battle against Bowser Jr.

7. Donkey Kong Area

While it is still under construction, it is expected to open sometime around spring this year of 2024. You can look forward to experiencing the world of Donkey Kong when it launches later this year.

The area is completely themed after the Donkey Kong Country games, featuring the iconic jungle environment and characters like Donkey Kong himself, Diddy Kong, and Cranky Kong. It is said that the Highlight would be the state of the minecart rollercoaster which offers a thrilling ride through Donkey Kong’s world.

8. Have a Dining experience at Kinopio’s Cafe

An adorable Toad’s Cafe which is also the only seated dining option within Super Nintendo World at Universal Studio Japan. Not only the food, but it is also a fully themed restaurant which will make your experience of the world of Mario come to life.

The cafe is designed to resemble Toad’s house, with a mushroom-shaped roof, colorful decor, and playful details inspired by the Mario universe. The same goes for the delicious and creative dishes which are of course themed based on the Mario games such as their King Browser’s Hamburger Steak, Mario's Bacon Cheeseburger, and Princess Peach’s Cake.

There are multiple souvenirs shops placed throughout the area. From a small shop specialized in themed merchandise such as the Mario and Luigi character-specific items, Kart stands which are located near the entrance or exit of Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge which often sell ride-related souvenirs and apparel. And last but not least the main shop as well as the only premier store within Super Nintendo World, offering a massive selection of souvenirs to satisfy every Nintendo merchandise fan.
