Kuala Lumpur Bird Park(Taman Burung Kuala Lumpur) is the world's largest covered, free-flight aviary. It opened in 1991 and is now home to more than 3,000 birds from 200 species all over the world. Most of the birds fly freely within their enclosures and are comfortable being around many people. If you’re lucky, you can even take a picture with some of them! Make sure to see the Indian blue peacock and its colorful five-foot train, as well as the crowned pigeon which is the largest pigeon species in the world.

Like the Petronas Twin Towers, the KL Tower has become one of the most recognizable and popular landmarks in Kuala Lumpur. It’s the seventh tallest freestanding tower in the world and the highest viewpoint in KL that’s open to the public. At 421 meters high, the tower’s spindle-like apex can be seen from almost anywhere in the city. It houses a revolving restaurant at the 282-meter level, and at the same time functions as a communications tower and an astronomy observatory.

Situated right by the Petronas Twin Towers is Suria KLCC, the most beloved mall in Kuala Lumpur since 1999. Located inside the Lake Gardens Kuala Lumpur is the Butterfly Park, a beautifully landscaped park that has an extensive collection of more than 6,000 butterflies from over 120 species. The park features a nursery and breeding area where you can watch a larvae turn into a butterfly and learn about the metamorphosis process. There’s also an insect exhibit where you can see rhinoceros beetles and praying mantises, and a souvenir shop where you can get preserved butterflies in forms of bookmarks, keychains, and more.

This jewel box-shaped concert hall that can seat 885 people is located between the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC. It was built by the Petronas and is the first concert hall in the country that is home to the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. This iconic concert hall hosts many events and orchestras, and caters to all kinds of music such as violin solos, Malaysian dance, orchestra with chorus, and more. What’s unique about the Petronas Philharmonic Hall is its movable ceilings for changing and adjusting the acoustic volume of the hall, which can go from 470,000f2 for chamber music to 670,000f2 for large orchestra and organ recitals.

Going to a police museum may seem like an unconventional choice, but the Royal Malaysian Police Museum can be surprisingly interesting. Located in Jalan Perdana, you’ll find this museum among other well-known tourist spots like the Planetarium and Islamic Arts Museum. It has three galleries that narrate the country’s police history from the days of the Federated and Unfederated Malay States to the current structure. You’ll find traditional weaponry and an in-depth explanation of how the police helped during the catastrophes faced by Malaya, from the Japanese Occupation to the Bukit Kepong tragedy.

Look like you’re part of a painting at the Illusion 3D Art Museum! This museum offers more than 36 pieces of hand-made 3D paintings and visitors can take unlimited shots at the gallery. The paintings focus more on vibrant cultural elements that were brought to life by a team of talented artists. You can try out different crazy poses in each painting until you get that perfect shot.

The kids are going to enjoy visiting Kuala Lumpur even more at KidZania Kuala Lumpur, an interactive ‘edutainment’ center that allows the kids to enjoy and ‘experience’ professional jobs. The KidZania staff will assist the kids and teach them about different career choices in different miniature-sized replicas of office buildings and cars! Pusat Sains Negara or National Science Center was established in 1996 by former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to promote science and technology in the country. Since then, it’s been a much visited tourist spot because it can be enjoyed by both the kids and the adults. Upon entering this modern rainbow-colored, dome-shaped building, you’ll be welcomed by an exhibit of freshwater marine life swimming in a tunnel above your head. You’ll also find a Science Show, Eureka, Little Explorers, Kids World, and Kids Discovery Place on Level 1, and Level 2 holds the Flight, i-Rays, Survive the Bunker, and Pathway to Science. There’s also a Prehistoric Garden outside with several life-like dinosaurs.

A hidden gem within the city! The Titiwangsa Lake Gardens is a recreational park that’s open to the public. Here you’ll find several lakes at the center and other facilities for jogging, aqua biking, canoeing, and more. If you’re up for a challenge, you can try the park’s horse riding facility and the radio control car racing track! This park is near the National Theatre and the National Art Gallery, so you have other beautiful places to visit in the area.
