Taipei is one of the most popular destinations in Asia for people worldwide to come and drop a visit. Soaring towers, national museums, serene temples, parks, busy cities, night markets, and nature visibility are attractions in Taipei that draw people to set foot here.

Although we can’t travel to Taiwan now, it is exciting to know what awaits us once it is open for tourism again.

Flying Information to Taipei

Many flights like Philippines Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Cathay Airlines, Asiana, Singapore Airlines, and more are available from airports in the major cities in major cities in the Philippines like Manila, Cebu, and Butuan Cotabato and more to Taipei.

A flight from Manila to Taipei typically takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes via direct flight, while Cebu to Taipei generally takes about 10 hours via connecting flights. However, depending on the routes available, the travel time may differ.

Currently, the estimated price for a one-way trip from Manila to Taipei usually costs around PHP 22,000. However, the fares can increase slightly from PHP 24,000 and higher if you travel via connecting flights.

Flight tickets also vary depending on the destination you depart to Taipei. Also, some airlines will include separate tickets and travel tax too.

The biggest airport in Taipei is Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. It is an international airport located in Dayuan District, Taoyuan, 40 kilometers west of Taipei. It is also the busiest and largest airport in Taiwan.

Shilin Night Market

Suppose you want to have a fantastic nightlife with simple yet delicious street foods. In that case, Shilin Night market is where you can explore a variety of delicacies.

Shilin Night Market is one of Taipei's largest and most famous night markets.

You can buy traditional Taiwanese foods for reasonable prices from friendly sellers who let you taste the unique flavors of their traditional recipes.

It is in No. 101, Jihe Rd, Shilin District, Taipei City, Taiwan 111.
It is easily accessible by public transportations.
It opens daily from 5 pm to 12 am.
The entrance fee is free of charge.
You can take THSR or TRA to Taipei Station and transfer Taipei MRT to Jiantan Station to reach here. You also can take the Taipei Sightseeing Bus Blue Route to the MRT Jiantan Station stop to reach Shilin Market.

Maokong

Maokong is in the Wenshan district of Taipei. It is a cable car that operates between Taipei Zoo and Maokong.

It is the first gondola system in Taipei. The gondola stretches with a total length of 4.03 kilometers and is surrounded by many peaceful spots with breathtaking views.

It travels to four stops, namely:

Taipei Zoo Station
Taipei Zoo South Station
Zhinan Temple Station
Maokong Station

One-way travel time on this cable car will take around 20 to 30 minutes. Hence, you will get plenty of time to enjoy the stunning view, take many beautiful pictures, and taste delicious street food.

Things to know:

It is in No. 8, Section 2, Xinguang Rd, Wenshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan 116. It is easily accessible by public transportations.
It is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8.30 am to 9 pm.
The entrance fee is NT$ 120 each way for adults and NT$ 50 for children ages 6 to 12 years old. It is free for seniors over 65 and children under six years old.
You can take the Maokong Gondola, a cable car up the mountain from MRT Taipei Zoo Station, to reach Maokong. The best time to ride the gondola is late in the evening to watch the beautiful sunset and at night when the city covers with bright lights from the buildings and streets.

Taipei 101

Taipei 101 is an iconic tower in Taipei, standing at 508m-tall and has 101 stories. It surpassed the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as the tallest building globally.

Taipei 101 exhibits outstanding traditional Asian aesthetics in a modern structure. Taipei 101 fireworks displays are one of the regular attractions in Taipei 101 every New Year's Eve.

You can enjoy the breathtaking view on the observatory deck, including the nearby Elephant Mountain, shop, take many beautiful pictures, and more.

Taipei 101 is in No. 7, Section 5, Xinyi Road, Xinyi District, Taipei City, Taiwan.
It is easily accessible by public transportations.
It opens on weekdays from 11 am to 9 pm and at weekends from 10 am to 9 pm.
The entrance fee is free except for the indoor observation platform on the 89th floor, which costs NT$ 300 on weekdays and NT$ 420 on weekends. The ticket price is NT$ 190 for a senior citizen.
Taipei 101 has an observatory on the 101st floor that you have to pay extra to book a ticket for Skyline460 to access the floor, which costs NT$ 3,000.

Yangmingshan National Park

If you want to enjoy the serene nature surrounded by tranquil forests, you can visit Yangmingshan National Park.

It is next to Shamao Mountain and Qixing Mountain, with Datun Mountain on the right and Guanyin Mountain in front.

The area of the park is 11,338 hectares in total. Plum, cherry, peach, pear trees, rhododendrons, and flora will excite you.

The cherry blossoms that bloom during spring will revitalize you.

Calla lilies at the bamboo lake (Zhu-Zi-hu) are mind-blowing during mid of March month.

You can also glimpse one of Taiwan's endemic bird species, the Formosan Blue Magpie. Don't forget to check the seasons to enjoy every bewitching scenery.

Sun Moon Lake

Sun Moon Lake is the largest alpine lake and the longest river in the south. You will be thrilled to see the rich ecology like extraordinary mountain and lake views.

You can have a bike cruising around the lake on the Xiangshan Bike Trail and a railway trip using the ancient Jiji train.
