Metro Manila has no shortage of churches to visit on Maundy Thursday and if you’re going to focus on the Antipolo area, here are the churches you should visit:
The Antipolo Cathedral is the home of the miraculous 17th-century image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Nuestra Señora dela Paz y Buenviaje). As a site that welcomes millions of pilgrims each year, it is one of the most popular churches outside the Metro. The Cathedral is the seat of the Archdiocese of Antipolo which covers Marikina City, Rizal province and a section of Metro Manila’ Pasig City.Address: P. Oliveros St., Antipolo City 1870 Rizal
The church is commonly called Boso-Boso Church and was restored from the ruins of a circa 1700 Jesuit-built parish. The church only became a parish in 2004 as the community was abandoned in 1930 over a planned dam which didn’t push through.Address: Sitio Old (Lower) Boso-Boso, Brgy. San Jose, Antipolo City, Rizal
This is a community parish that’s spacious and airy enough to accommodate an influx of pilgrims observing the holiday. One of the great qualities of this church is its ornate altar that grabs your attention.Address: Duhat & Atis Streets, Antipolo Hills Subd., Brgy. San Luis, Antipolo City, Rizal
St. Therese has a simple beauty that is very solemn. Like other churches in Antipolo, the church has a beautifully decorated altar that gives parishioners an understated splendor and is highly accessible since it’s right on a major highway.Address: Marcos Highway, Brgy Mayamot, Antipolo City, Rizal
