Are you always on the lookout for a getaway? Are you the type who files your leaves to coincide with long weekends? Or do you just like having your itineraries on trips planned way in advance?
If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then this is the blog post for you. There’s going to be six long weekends in 2018, and you’re probably thinking of what to do during all of them. We’ll do the hard work for you and list the Philippine holidays and places to go to in 2018:
It’s not surprising if you’re looking to leave the metro during the New Year. It can get loud and smokey in Metro Manila, so if you’re looking for a respite why not head to Tagaytay?
It’s not too far from Metro Manila, and it’s position in the mountains gives you a great vantage point from which to see the fireworks. Best of all, you won’t have to be in the midst of all the noise and smoke of Metro Manila’s fireworks.
As much as it’s a time for personal reflection, the Holy Week has also become the time when Filipino families get together and reconnect. But if reunions aren’t your thing and you just want to stay in, ditch the beach and have a staycation in the city.
The peak season for beaches is long gone by this time of the year, so now would be a good time to head there. Why not make your way to Palawan? It’s already less crowded than Boracay to begin with, and the low season means there’s even less people. More importantly, it’s easier to get cheap flights and hotels if you’re planning to head there around this time.
Filipinos usually pay their respects to the dead around this time, as well as go on reunion with their families. But if you’re looking to do something different, go to Baguio during this weekend. It’s got a few haunted location like the Diplomat Hotel and the Laperal Mansion, so your weekend can be appropriately spooky.
Andres Bonifacio is a beloved hero to many, and you can make use of this long weekend as an opportunity to get an idea of what Philippines was like back then. Head over to Bataan and visit Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar. The whole resort is made to look like 18th century Philippines. It's the perfect venue for you to try and immerse yourself in Bonifacio’s time.
You can’t spend Christmas without your family, but you can definitely choose to spend it somewhere other than home. Take the family to Boracay. The New Year crowds still haven’t come in around this time, so you and the family can walk the beach at leisure. What better gift than to take your family to one of the world’s best beaches?
