First Timer’s Guide to Caticlan Airport: What You Need to Know

Caticlan Airport operates with both domestic and international flights. Officially named theGodofredo P. Ramos Airport, itis the nearest airport to Boracay, situated on the southern tip of the island.

The airport is one of the two gateways to Boracay (Kalibo International Airport is the other).

Generally, plane tickets to Caticlan Airport are more expensive, probably because of its shorter distance to Boracay. The airport is currently undergoing renovations and was recently renamed Boracay Airport.

COVID-19 Safety Measures to Caticlan

Caticlan is currently in a state of Alert Level 1.

All tourists and travelers are urged to obtain a QR Code from their Online Health Declaration Card when they are preparing to travel to Caticlan. Other than that, travelers must follow the regulations below:

For vaccinated travelers: They must present VaxCerthPH COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate with clear indications of their vaccination status. The types of certificated accepted by the Caticlan officials are:Locally issued vaccination card/ID with clear vaccination status and QR code, plus the contact information of the testing center; orWorld Health Organization International Certificate vaccination card/ID/certificates that were issued abroad.
For unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers:Must provide a negative RT-PCR test result taken within 72 hours prior to their travel date that is issued by any DOH-accredited laboratories.

Caticlan Airport is located at Barangay Caticlan in Malay, Aklan.

How to Get to Caticlan Airport

There are direct flights going to Caticlan Airport from other top destinations in the country, such as Manila and Cebu.

If you are coming from any point in Malay, Aklan, you can simply ride a tricycle and tell the driver to take you to the airport.

You may also travel by car following the direction signs that are visible along the streets of Malay.

Caticlan Airport has a relatively short runway that's only 810 meters long. For this reason, only small aircraft are allowed to land here.

1. Initial Security

Ready your passport and ticket before entering the airport. A uniformed guard will inspect your requirements before you lift your baggage up to the x-ray machine. Porter services are also available.

2. Check-In

You don't have to pay for travel tax, as it is already included in the price of your ticket.

Go straight to the check-in queue and present your ticket along with your passport or any valid ID. You will also need to drop your luggage here, if you have bags to check-in.

Once done, you will receive a boarding pass that indicates your boarding time. Keep your documents safe and intact.

3. Final Security

Your hand-carry bags will need to go through an x-ray machine and a metal detector again. Once done, proceed to the waiting area until you're asked to board.

4. Boarding

Be attentive to the announcements of boarding and delays. You may look at the screens for any changes that may occur. When boarding, you have to present your ID and/or boarding pass to the attendant.

1. Baggage Carousel

If you have check-in luggage, this is where you can pick it up. Just head towards the conveyor belt labeled with your flight number.

2. Exit

Head to the exit where a family member, a friend, or a tour guide is waiting.

If you're going to Boracay, just head out of the small airport, and you'll see a line of vans and tricycles. These vehicles take passengers to Caticlan Jetty, where you need to ride a boat going to Boracay.
