See the World from Home: Free Virtual Tours You Can Take Now

Today’s technological advancements have definitely made our lives better in terms of livelihood and lifestyle. With almost everyone staying at home due to the Enhanced Community Quarantine, that fact is even more evident as it also helps many to continue working from home or has simply kept people entertained.

Now that this period has caused some of us to feel lethargic and anxious, it’s important to find ways to keep ourselves occupied and sane. Make the most of this quarantine period by trying some of these free virtual tours and discover the world right from the comforts of your own home.

Museums

If you think it’s impossible to stay on top of your studies while school is out or be able to go to a museum during this time, think again! Google Arts & Culture collaborated with over 2,500 museums and galleries around the globe to allow people to visit museums, view galleries, and explore exhibitions fully without having to get off their seats.

The collection includes a variety of galleries and exhibitions from the British Museum in London, the Guggenheim in New York City, the Palace of Versailles in France, and a bunch of other places where you can learn, discover, and fully engross yourself in art, history, and sciences.

You can also check out some of the other museums that have set up their own virtual tours, digitized galleries, and e-museums like the National Museum in Manila, the Tokyo National Museum, the Louvre in Paris, the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C., and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

National Parks and Zoos

Wildlife lovers and adventurers might miss the feeling of the earth beneath their feet or the breathtaking sceneries a good hiking spot has to offer during this time, but there are several National Parks offering free virtual tours that are definitely great alternatives to enjoying the great outdoors.

Explore the stunning Nevada Fall at Yosemite National Park in California, or be captivated by the massive geysers at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. These tours are not only visually stunning on your screens but also feature ambient sounds and information about the many features and sites found within the parks.

For animal lovers, there are available virtual tours and livestream feeds for popular aquariums and zoos, like the San Diego Zoo and Baltimore’s National Aquarium.

Tourist Hotspots

While you’re all staying at home and doing your part in keeping yourself and others safe, it doesn’t mean that the world can’t be accessed through your laptop or phone screens. Witness the grandeur of The Great Wall of China or marvel at the interior of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican City via their respective virtual tour offers online.

If you miss having fun at theme parks, Disney Parks have 360-degree street views on Google Maps, while other parks like SeaWorld Orlando and LEGOLAND Florida Resort have their own virtual tour offers. There are also some videos that make you feel like you’re actually on some of your favorite rides or strolling through the parks that are worth watching on YouTube.
