Originally held as a commemoration ceremony honoring the most famous navy admiral of the Joseon Period, Yi Sun-sin, the festival has now evolved into an event enjoyed by everyone. The Jindalrae (azalea) Festival at Mount Goryeosan has become the largest spring festival in Korea. This flower festival is highly anticipated by the Korean community. Surprisingly, with the presence of this festival, people can experience new energy and spirit, rejuvenating from the tiredness of daily activities while also enjoying the allure of Korean festivals.

Mount Goryeosan is famous for the legend that it is the birthplace of Yeon Gaesomun. Yeon was a famous general during the Goguryeo Dynasty. Many mountain climbers visit this mountain in April to see the vast expanse of blooming azaleas. Although it is only a small mountain at 436 meters high, there are various temples and famous tourist spots on this mountain, including Jeokseoksa Temple, Baekryunsa Temple, a collection of dolmens, and Hongneung (one of the tombs of the Goryeo Dynasty rulers). There are a total of five trails that visitors can choose from to hike Mount Goryeosan and reach the azalea fields. Visitors can walk for one to two hours depending on the chosen trail. This festival usually opens from April 15 to 23 and may have free admission or no entrance tickets required.

The Camellia and Octopus Festival in Seocheon usually takes place from March to early April in the Camellia Forest, Maryang-ri, Seo-myeon, Seocheon-gun, Chungcheongnam Province. The Camellia Forest located in Maryang-ri has been selected as the 169th natural monument. In this area, there are approximately 80 camellia trees that are around 500 years old. Visitors can climb the stone stairs through the camellia forest, where they can enjoy the beautiful view of the sea to the west and the famous Dongbaekjeong Pavilion.
