Here's a list of things you need to accomplish when renewing your Philippine passport. Make sure to put all important documents in an envelope so you won't miss any of them when you arrive at the DFA office)

Personal Appearance – All applicants for passport renewal must go to a DFA-NCR Satellite Office or Regional Consular Office.

Confirmed Appointment – Applicants are required to set an appointment online and appear on the exact day and date they specified. Confirmed appointment online is required for all applicants except for senior citizens, infants and minors below a year old, and OFWs. OFWs must have sufficient proof submitted like a valid employment contract or OEC.

Duly Accomplished Application Form – Visit www.dfa.gov.ph/download for the list of forms available.

Birth Certificate – Accepted are Certified True Copy of Birth Certificate issued by the Local Civil Registrar and duly authenticated by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). All birth certificates with blurred or unreadable entries won’t be allowed.

Valid ID – Please refer to the List of Acceptable IDs online. Also bring supporting documents to prove your identity.

Original Old Passport - Bring the original and photocopy of your original old passport based on the following type:

* Original brown passport (issued prior to May 1, 1995) and photocopy of passport pages 1, 2, 3, 4, and the last page OR

* Original green passport (issued after May 1, 1995) and photocopy of first and last page of passport

OR* Original machine readable passport (issued in the year 2007) and photocopy of first and last page of passport

OR* Original e-passport (issued in the year 2016) and photocopy of first (data page) and last page of passport

Philippine Passport Renewal Process

Securing a renewed passport is now via the DFA Appointment System, and a strict “by appointment policy” is implemented.

Getting through the online appointment system is very easy and convenient, just follow carefully the steps and encode the correct information. Below is the three-step procedure in renewing your passport.

1. Schedule an appointment.

You can go to www.passport.gov.ph/appointment to book your appearance at a DFA Service Center near you.

The online system allows you to choose where you want to file your application, your chosen date for a personal appearance as well as preferred time.

You will receive a confirmation email once you’ve successfully booked your passport renewal appointment.

2. Print and fill out the Application Form.

Whether you are applying for a new passport or renewal of passport, you will still have to fill out the same Application Form for filing and identification purposes.

Download, print and answer the form legibly. Make sure to provide your accurate personal information and contact details.

3. Go to your passport renewal appointment.

Bring your duly accomplished application form and the rest of the requirements mentioned above.

It is highly advisable to come at least 30 minutes to an hour earlier since most satellite office won’t entertain late comers.

The Step-by-Step Guide on Passport Renewal at Any DFA Satellite Office

If it is your first time to renew your passport or you’ll be going to the satellite office alone then below are the step-by-step procedure you need to follow:

Step 1. Arrive on your confirmed date, place and time. Present your application form to the Appointment Counter to give you a queue number.

Step 2. Once your number is called (or displayed on the monitor), proceed to the available Processing Area window.

Step 3. Present all your requirements to the personnel. They will first make sure that you brought all the correct documents before payment.

Step 4. The passport renewal fees differ depending on your desired processing days.For renewal of passport applicants:· Regular Processing (15 working days): P950.00· Express Processing (7 working days): P1,200.00

Step 5. After payment you can now go to the encoding section for biometrics, signature data and image capturing.

Step 6. Wait for your receipt with the date stamped to when you can go back and claim your passport. If you want your passport to be delivered to your home address, you may do so with additional courier fee minimum of PHP 120.

DFA Satellite Offices in Metro Manila

You can choose from the six (6) satellite offices of DFA to set a personal appointment:

DFA Aseana

SM Manila

Robinsons Galleria

SM Megamall

Ali Mall

Alabang Town Center.

All DFA satellite offices are situated in strategic spots for Filipinos to visit conveniently.

Most are also inside mall establishments so your appointment shall be within mall hours (10:00am – 5:00pm), Mondays to Saturdays (except holidays).

Passport Renewal for Province-based Applicants

Those in the provinces can follow the same step-by-step process as above. You can set an appointment at your nearest DFA Regional Consular Office.

Aside from renewing your passport you can also do a new application, replacement of lost expired passport and replacement of lost valid passport.

Dos and Don’ts on Passport Renewal

Here are a few reminders when renewing your passport:

Dos

Renew your passport six (6) months before expiration date.Most countries require a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of your departure. For frequent travelers, it is highly recommended to renew your passport once almost half of its pages are already used up.

Update all your required documents. Ensure your Birth Certificate and IDs with your latest personal information are updated.

Make sure that all the data in your Application Form are valid and complete.

Enter a valid and working email address on the DFA Appointment System.This will ensure you'll receive the system-generated messages with file attachments regarding your application easily. Recommended browser for filing and scheduling is Internet Explorer ver.11 or higher / Mozilla Firefox ver.45 according the DFA website. This will ensure that the system will load fully.

Ask immediate family members to get your accomplished passport. They are the only ones allowed to get the passport on behalf of the applicant with a proper authorization letter.

Take care of your passport.Don't tamper with it, staple, expose it to heat or moisture and fold it among others.

Practice Covid-19 precautions at all times.Wear appropriate mask.Observe safe distance.Sanitize or wash hands frequently.

Don'ts

Don’t be too picky on your appearance date. Know that your appearance slot is based on a first come, first serve basis. Thus, there are limited slots available per site and there is no guarantee that your date and time of choice will be available.

Don’t worry if ever you can’t come on the date stamped on your receipt. You have at least six (6) months to claim your accomplished passport on the DFA Releasing Area. If you can’t claim your passport within the given six months, it will be disposed of/canceled.

Don’t forget to ensure all data given in your passport are correct once released. If you noticed any correction, approach a personnel immediately.

Don’t deal with fixers lounging around the area for security purposes and to avoid unreasonable fees. There is no need for fixers since verification, processing, payment and even passport delivery are available at the DFA NCR Office or Regional Consular Office.

Don't wear earrings and/or contact lenses during image capturing.Showing you teeth on the photo is also prohibited.
