2. Laguindingan Airport
Laguindingan Airport is the main airport that serves the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan. The airport sits on a 4.17 square kilometres site in Barangay Moog, Laguindingan and is 46 kilometres from Cagayan de Oro and 57 kilometres from Iligan. This airport started its operation on June 15, 2013 and replaced Lumbia Airport in Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro. In 2019, Laguindingan Airport was recognized as the sixth-busiest airport in the country with an estimate of two million passengers passing through it. Cagayan de Oro’s climate is under the hot sun for most of the time. Usually, it will be warm and sunny throughout the years with little rains except for typhoon season which the weather can be unpredictable with heavy rains and thunderstorm. The average maximum temperature in Cagayan de Oro is around 27 and 33 degree Celsius while the average minimum is about 20 and 24 degree Celsius. While around December to February will be the peak of seasons because it will be the warm and pleasant season of the year. 1. The Seven Seas Waterpark – This waterpark is located in Opol approximately 10 kilometers North of Cagayan de Oro. It is a newly built recreational area and the first ever world class waterpark established in the country. Besides that, it is also famous among tourists and locals because of the many thrilling rides and slides such as the Cyclone and Abyss Tornado Ride. It opens from 9 am to 5 pm. The prices for adults from Monday to Thursday is 800 peso and 1000 peso on the weekends. Also, the entrance fee for kids below 4 feet is 500 peso on weekdays and 600 pesos on the weekends. For kids below 3 feet, the entrance is free.
2. High Ridge – High Ridge is a fantastic tourist spot to enjoy a picturesque view of the city. The view from High Ridge at night is considered one of the best in the city. The attractions also consist of dining options where family and friends or with a special someone can devour a delicious meal while watching the sunset. To get to High Ridge, there is a free shuttle going to High Ride from Barangay Macasandig Covered Court from 11 30 a.m. - 1 30 a.m., 5 p.m. – 5 30 p.m., 7 p.m. – 7 30 p.m. and drop off Macasandig Covered Court 9 p.m. – 9 30 p.m. only. The entrance fee is 100 peso and children below 12 years old are free of charge.
3. Mapawa Nature Park - One of the most beautiful and breathtaking tourist spots in Cagayan de Oro is the Mapawa Nature Park. This forest park is located at Barangay Cugman. It is a place to enjoy various activities such as climbing or swimming near the waterfalls, horseback riding, canyoneering and also cliff jumping. Besides that, you too can set up a camp in the forest after hiking. There are numerous packages offered according to visitor's preference such as the river trek package is 1300 peso per person with the entrance fee, lunch and bottled water. It opens from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
