This city got its name from a tree which is the Terminalia catappa. This city is known for their simple lifestyle where the people would fish for food and farm.

It usually is hot all year round with occasional rainfall. May, June and April, however, happens to be the warmest month. Therefore, it might not be the best time to visit the city. Some of the airlines that operate here are Wings Air, Garuda Indonesia, Sui Air and several more. There are not many facilities available at this airport as it is rather small. Still, they do have a flight information counter, ATMs and also waiting for the area for the passengers and families. Those who wish to get into the city may opt for the taxi or bike ride called 'ojek’ waiting outside the airport.
