We had a fabulous stay at Spicers Balfour that lived up to all our expectations of what we have experienced at any of the 3 other Spicers hotels we've stayed in. This one takes the boutique and personal service level up to the next level, with all the staff we dealt with being helpful, easy to deal with, and friendly, ensuring we had a very lovely time there. The room was as shown on the website and although on the slightly small side had everything we needed. The gorgeous little rooftop bar is really special with its beautiful sunset outlook over New Farm & the Story Bridge. The restaurant provided a 5-star meal in a relaxed setting with beautiful, personal service from the waitstaff. The location makes it a park your car and walk/public transport your way to so many entertainment options in the vicinity. Highly recommend the Balfour—we were there for an anniversary "staycation" and it was perfect, and only 15 mins from home.

Reaching Bracken Ridge from the Philippines is a journey that typically involves a flight into Brisbane Airport (BNE), the primary international gateway for Queensland. Direct flights from Manila (NAIA/MNL) are not always available, so most travellers will connect through hubs like Singapore, Hong Kong, or Dubai. The total flight duration can range from 12 to 20 hours, depending on the layover. Flights from Cebu (CEB) or other Philippine hubs will likely involve similar connecting routes. Booking your book flight in advance is recommended for better fares.

Once you arrive at Brisbane Airport (BNE), getting to Bracken Ridge and its surrounding neighbourhoods is convenient. The Airtrain service provides a direct link from the airport to the city centre, where you can then transfer to local buses or trains to reach your accommodation. Within Bracken Ridge and its various districts, public transport, including buses and the CityCat ferry service along the Brisbane River, offers efficient and scenic ways to get around.

The best time to visit Bracken Ridge generally aligns with Queensland's pleasant climate. Spring (September to November) and Autumn (March to May) offer mild temperatures, making them ideal for outdoor exploration and sightseeing. Summer (December to February) can be hot and humid with occasional rainfall, while Winter (June to August) is cooler and drier, still suitable for many activities. These shoulder seasons often provide a good balance of favourable weather and fewer crowds, potentially leading to better accommodation prices compared to peak holiday periods.

Before you depart for Bracken Ridge, ensure you have a few essentials sorted. The local currency is the Australian Dollar (AUD). While credit and debit cards are widely accepted, it's useful to carry some cash for smaller purchases or markets. Purchasing a local SIM card at the airport or in the city can provide affordable data and local calls. Essential apps include Google Maps for navigation, a translation app if needed, and ride-sharing apps. Confirming your visa status and ensuring your passport has at least six months' validity beyond your intended stay are crucial pre-departure steps.
