What Guests Say About Their Stay

This was the second time we have stayed in the converted Fire Station apartment. It is a good-sized studio, we love the wrap around views both inside and outside and spend lots of time on the fabulous deck, which includes both a shaded area and a BBQ. We also love all the unique heritage decor items from its past use as a fire station that elevate this from a boring hotel suite. We enjoy the ability to cook in the well-organised kitchen. The bed and pillow are comfortable. There was an extra doona but no cover for it which was a little odd. (Note: the photo displayed here by Hotels.com is for a separate building on the island, not the fire studio).

I enjoyed the solitude at night, despite the seagulls calling. The Fire Station Studio is ideal and very comfortable for a long weekend, with a variety of walks around the island. I didn't take a tour this time but will in future. The only disappointing aspect was the lack of better variety of food available at the kiosk. The menu at the Marina Cafe & Bar was slightly better but not a great deal re vegetables or fruit. I mainly self-catered after I shopped over the water at Barangaroo. Kitchen at the studio is well set up for self-catering. I will certainly recommend to friends and family who may come to Sydney and hopefully will enjoy another stay there.

This is the most wonderful experience! Cockatoo Islsnd is so wonderful to explore, but combining it with overnight camping in an on-site tent is the best. We arrived earlier in the day and were able to leave our bags so that we could walk around. There is so much to see and do. We had a lovely lunch at one of the cafes, pizzas are delicious! We then checked into our tent. It was supplied with fresh linen and towels etc. We bought some wine from the cafe and self catered with our own cheese platter (camp kitchen has fridges etc) overlooking the beautiful harbour as the sun set, it was magical. If you ever have the opportunity to do an overnight stay, just do it. We loved it!
