Melbourne City Suites

Booked for 5 people (2 adults, 3 kids). Was allocated a 4 bed room, but that's fine because we booked and paid for the extra kid. Reception advertised as open till 8 on Friday, got there before 7, it was shut. Had to "renew" my deposit? before they'd give me access to the room. Room had 2 queen beds, no extra one, no fold out couch. Was told i could have another bed if i paid for it - the extra I'd already paid is apparently just to let the person in the room?? Was told you have to specify if you're booking a room for 5 that you want everyone to have a place to sleep?! They couldn't provide us with the extra bed because no one was on site, my son had to sleep on the floor. Extra bed was supposed to be there at 9am the next morning, we got sick of waiting and went out at 10am. Got back, bed was there, no pillow, no towel. Horrific. And that's not even going into the fire alarm going off for 30 mins in the middle of the night. Never again.

Nice apartment, well presented

The room was very dark - there was a window out on to an alley and it was in the bedroom but other than that there were no windows. The booking said that parking was available which is why we chose this accommodation but when we arrived, we were asked if we had reserved parking - the booking does not indicate that it had to be reserved. The desk staff was helpful and found us a parking spot a few blocks away but expected us to walk back from there (in the rain) with our luggage. Clarity in the booking would have helped. She then suggested that that we could pull up in front of the building - a no parking zone - and drop the luggage off . I said i was not going to leave the luggage on the sidewalk in the rain and come back for it - she was kind enough to take it up to our room for us .. but really a little more staff support would have been helpful.

Clean and in a great location

I recently stayed at this hotel during a study trip to Melbourne and was very disappointed with the experience. On the first night, the room was absolutely freezing — the heating was not working at all. When I contacted the hotel, I was told that nothing could be done until reception opened the next morning. This was completely unacceptable, especially during cold weather. Even after repairs were supposedly carried out on the air conditioning unit, the heating still didn’t work. It took considerable effort and time – which I couldn’t afford on a busy study schedule – just to get my room swapped. There was very little urgency or concern shown by the staff, which only added to the frustration. Additionally, the hotel advertises that the property was constructed in 2020, which is clearly false. The building is noticeably old and outdated, and this kind of misleading information feels deceptive. Overall, I would not recommend this property. Between the uncomfortable conditions, lack of timely support, and false advertising, the experience fell far short of expectations

There were no hand towels in the bathroom.small point. They need a decent sign on Lt Burke street with clear instructions on how to get to reception 8 stories up. Neither of these things are hard to fix.

This is always my go to Melbourne place to stay. Very good value and more than just a hotel room.

Very helpful. I would stay again

Our stay was pleasant. A little hard to work out the parking but we got there in the end. Heading into reception was a little weird given it was in a hotel room but everything worked out.

Which i didn't like : lights are very dim, not enough bright light in the rooms. Rooms are very spacious and organised neatly.

The staff were very accommodating and offered us early check in . They were easy to deal with. The room was clean , spacious and comfortable with everything we needed. The location is excellent, close to shopping, attractions & transport. Would definitely recommend.

Wasn't serviced properly before our stay. difficulty in checking in after hours.

It was lovely, but the onsite carpark is a nightmare to get in and out of. Damaged my car as there is absolutely no wriggle room.

Excellent facility and cleanliness

Reception is on level 8 of the Mantra. It is a little strange but don't let it put you off. The receptionist was lovely and the standard of the apartment was excellent. Will stay again.
