It was a very convenient walk to the Opera House. Coming home was more difficult. The long corridor to the lifts from Elizabeth Street entrance was a little unnerving, especially as a strange man also came in. The entrance door was not locked. CH

This is my “go-to” hotel when I am in Sydney. It’s in a very quiet location in the Phillip st legal precinct area, yet just around the corner from busy Martin Place. For transport, a couple of minutes walk takes you to Martin Place Metro Station or alternatively to St James station, which is directly on the airport rail line. Parks and other attractions are within walking distance. Take the hotel lift down to LG and an alternate exit takes you out to Elizabeth Street.

Room was good - a tad small for me but ok. We had a loud guest next door on first night so difficulty sleeping - try and get a room without connecting door as noise comes through.

The location was great however room was a bit small. The pillows were too high to sleep on and it was very uncomfortable. We didn’t get a decent sleep. Bathroom was outdated but I like how it was spacious enough.

Likes: a quiet, clean hotel conveniently close to many major sites (eg NSW Supreme Court, barristers’ chambers, St James Church, Angel Place recital hall). A fabulous Italian restaurant across the street. Dislikes: breakfast by voucher and limited menu at a nearby small, busy cafe. Cool yet efficient reception staff

Lovely hotel and friendly staff. The internet is very slow, so I would not recommend the hotel for someone who needs to access the internet for work.

We decided on the Sebel Martin Place due to its location: 2 minute walk to Martin Place station and Metro. 2 minute walk to the Theatre Royal. 3 minute walk to Westfield and the restaurants. Very comfortable and we would recommend it highly.

Do not select the breakfast included option under any circumstances. It's expensive and truly terrible. You end up with a laminated little voucher which provide highly limited options for breakfast and a couple of cafes and limiting it to one small coffee, a cold drink and a choice of very basic mains. The weekend option was in a tiny hole in the wall place with metal chairs and bare tables and a stream of tradies in high vis stopping by in noisy trucks. Awful. Just awful.
