Always a good stay at Van der Valk, its high standards never disappoints. This time we were even more pleased to know and see their kids friendly approach. Definitely will be back.

Personally I don’t find the beds that comfortable, mattresses are too firm. Service in the restaurant is quite slow and the menu hasn’t changed for years - which of course is only an issue for frequent visitors!

Booked a junior suite - Room 811…. The corridor was noisy because of the workmen banging about early in the morning. My shower had no door - only hinges on the walls where the door was! Breakfast was cold - bacon, beans etc…. Coffee was great though. Hotel was going through a refurbishment so spa area was closed. Sushi restaurant was amazing - highly recommend this. I feel that any hotel going through a refurbishment, when a booking has been made, should advise this as I most certainly would not have booked here!

We selected this hotel for an overnight stopover as we wanted to be close to Antwerp without getting involved with driving in Antwerp. The free parking was a major attraction. We arrived much later than expected due to delays in Dover, so didn't have time to see the area or use a restaurant. The hotel spreads over several buildings with lots of doors to open and go through to get to some of the rooms. The room itself was OK. Some of the tiles were cracked but it was clean and had everything we needed to a certain point. The mattress was OK but an extra pillow would have been nice. It had a ridiculous coffee machine and 3 pods of coffee (one decaffeinated, one espresso and one something else). It produced a miniscule amount of coffee from each pod. How is that in any way adequate for 2 adults on an overnight stay? I'd actually brought coffee with me but without a kettle that was completely pointless. We didn't have breakfast as it was far too expensive. We asked the receptionist if there were any bakeries in the town that would be open on a Sunday morning. She said she didn't know! It turns out there are some excellent bakeries in Beveren selling a wide range of truly delicious pastries and a decent supermarket open on a Sunday. One thing we really, really liked was the child pack they put in the room for our grandson. That was a very nice touch. He was very happy with it.

I had a junior suite which was lovely. It was the furthest form the reception however, and that is a long way! Service at breakfast was not good, but the Asian restaurant had fantastic service. Reception was also very friendly and happy.

We stayed at the older building, felt the reno little outdated

At breakfast there was 24 tables with used cups, plates etc. no were to sit and had to ask for a clean table. Rooms were old and could do with a refit. Pool was out of action and was not informed before my visit.

Stay here very often, excellent hotel with friendly staff and a choice of places to eat.

Unfortunately the service is always a let down! Even though there has been a recent refurbishment, the state of some rooms is very poor.
