One of the best breakfasts I had on this trip - simple but well planned. The room was cozy and the bathroom was clean. The floors were a bit cold so I wish they gave slippers. The only thing is it is amazingly close to nature. So close that there was a flock of birds outside the territory that was absolutely yelling for most of the night, kind of sounded like two car alarms going off at the same time. Bring ear plugs if you travel in breeding season 😅

The Ceilidh (Scottish word for social gathering) consists of a main building (check in and breakfast room), 2 2-storied buildings of accommodations plus a one story motel-like building of accommodations. We were in the motel-like building. The hotel appeared to be fully booked as there was a Relay race taking place that weekend, beginning in the town of Baddeck. The check in was very quick. The man who checked us in was polite. Our room was quite spacious but very basic. There was a Queen bed, a TV, fridge and a couple of chairs. The room was painted beige and had very little art work. It was clean. The bathroom hot water was slow in coming but sufficient once it arrived. I don't know how old the Inn is but the outside common walkway in the motel part was showing its age in areas. It was a bit pre-tourist season and it was apparent that they expect people to spend time outdoors as they provide chairs on the wraparound porch of the main building and on the front lawn facing the lake across the road. The included breakfast was set up in the main building which, looking at the decor, we believe had been the home of the original Scottish owners. Breakfast was good but was served on paper plates with wooden cutlery which was not the easiest to use to cut the sausage or bacon served with the eggs. Coffee was good. Hotel is located within walking distance of town.

Room was clean but dated - which is fine with us. However faucet in bathroom was very loose - almost not attached. Reviews online said walls are thin - which you can’t control - but there were only 4 guest staying and they put us all in rooms right beside each other. Property was not well kept- grass had not been cut in a while, gardens hadn’t been touched this year yet - I understand it’s still before “tourist season” but some minor outdoor grounds maintenance would help this motel and it’s curb appeal. We decided to forgo our room for the night and drove 1 hour further to Sydney.

Everything was OK, it was just a little more basic than what we were expecting. The room was big and had a front deck. Limited Choices of television channels to watch, and the Wi-Fi signal weak. The breakfast that was included was hard for a gluten-free person. the bacon and eggs came I think frozen and then microwaved and the cereal was limited with no other options for gluten-free eating, which was a bit of a disappointment

The property has a beautiful view. As it was off season there was no breakfast available. The room is clean but dated and could use updating. Quality of workmanship, like painting without care is evident. Ok for a couple nights for a Cabot Trail base, but for the price, I think it was too much.
