“We chose this hotel because it is very close to the University of Toronto and had great online reviews, but we ended up extremely disappointed. Right after booking, we received an email asking guests to bring cash or a debit card and requiring that the card be checked to confirm it belongs to the guest. The wording of the email was full of distrust toward customers. When we arrived, they also insisted on photocopying our photo ID, which felt like unnecessary and excessive collection of personal information. Their explanation was that they needed it for the insurance company or the police ‘in case something happens,’ which made us feel very unsafe staying there. We stayed in Room 4 on the second floor and found that the building was an old, poorly designed house. The stairs were extremely steep, the shared bathroom was very small and had no shampoo or body wash, and the floors, walls, and ceiling were all uneven with patchy paint. The walls in our room had cracks, and the ceiling looked as if it might collapse onto the walls. window in the room was tiny, and in case of a fire, it would be impossible to escape. During our two-day stay, we never saw a single smile from the staff. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in North America in terms of both infrastructure and service. I really don’t understand how such an old, seemingly makeshift building could be approved by government authorities as a hotel, nor how it received so many perfect scores and ‘excellent’

clean, simple and superb location!

The accommodations at the Kaisar Guest House were clean, and sufficient for a solo traveler on a short overnight trip. I would definitely stay here again. Kaisar is friendly, and welcoming and an excellent host.

Kaisar was very welcoming and helpful when I arrived! The room was neat and clean and there was a device charger right on the nightstand. Kensington Market is such a cool place to visit, unfortunately I fell asleep after I checked in and all the vintage stores were closed…luckily I’ll be back soon:)

Close to downtown and many restaurants

We came to Toronto for our son's cancer treatments, and stayed at the Kaisar. The staff are incredible, the room was clean and quiet, and the price and location were excellent. Would definitely stay again.

The room was spotless clean.on the ground level.it was warm.handy for the kitchen.shwer was hot once it got going?...staff were pleaant.no coplaints from us. Will stay again.

A very comfortable stay if you're okay with sharing bathroom + kitchen facilities. Most of downtown Toronto is easily walked to or easy to get to with public transportation. Also really enjoyed the restaurants closeby

It's shoes off. Bring your own slippers if you don't want to share.

The rooms look nothing like the pictures and arent very nice. We didnt even want to spend time in our room. When we arrived, the sheets and duvet were very visibly stained. They swapped as soon as we asked, however I don't know why they would be out in the first place. Only plus is its cheap and the area has lots to do

Ideally located to stores, restaurants and the ballpark!! Clean rooms and friendly

The rooms are unique,clean and functional. Staff is there should you need anything. Lots of shops within a few minutes of walking. Access to buses is a couple of minutes away. Kitchen access is a plus!! Been here multiple times and I always come back!!
