Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao SOHO

Check in was just OK. Took a long time for some reason. But, they did let me check in early. Maybe that is why it took so long. New building construction next door. Jack hammers operated until 1am. Hotel says sorry and will give you earplugs. Early Dec and room was very hot. Had to have window open to cool off. Metro close by as is a bus station. McDonald's across the street and convenience stores close, too.

The hotel was very clean and room was spacious and comfortable. It’s situated close to the Metro and takes about 20 minutes to get into the centre. There’s not much nearby in terms of places to eat or shop. But there is a MCDonalds over the road. The reception staff speak very little English so not ideal if you need anything. However, overall it’s a good price for a nice hotel.

Good service and i will come again next time . Thr price is reasonable and value for money thr room is big for a single person stay

Saw a small bug climbing in the bathroom. The bathroom’s toilet made over complex and can’t flush at 4am. Had to call service to fix it. Gym has no towels no tv control. Small things just add up to make it not have 3 or 4 star rating for the price you paid.

We needed to be next to the high speed station Hongqiao as we were getting in late on a long bullet travel journey. Very convenient. Room as you’d expect, clean, businesslike and spacious.

Hotel is new and very nice, but very hot in room! Couldn't sleep well during the night as air conditioning cannot be adjusted to cooler condition, also cigarette smells came in the room from outside the door. We stayed for 5 nights and finally on the last night we got sore throat and sinus problem, because of the cigarette smell, and probably from the heat, too! Anyway, thanks to the helpful staff, especially thanks to May at the front desk............... She gave a big help arranging the taxis for the 8 of us when we were leaving for the airport.

Yeah I know the price is low, compare to the facility, I was trying to give at least 4 star, however, lots of bad stuff happened: 1. Room service. No room service? Call them ask for some ICE and told me 'I'm busy, why don't you come down to save time'. Ok, come down and wait 6mins for their ice to me. 2. clean: bathroom even have last guest remaining dirty stuff. 3. AC, NO Air Conditioner for cold. So hot and cannot even sleep

Very posh and beautiful hotel. Service is great. The walls are paper thin. There isn't much in the area, but the wonton shop and McDonald's across the street were good. There is a very good tiny restaurant pass Subway for carry out. Will stay again if I fly out of HongQiao again.

Great. The room is spacious. All the attendants are really working their best to make you feel welcome. I really recommend the place.

New and clean, close to metro (line 2), 10mins from Hongqiao airport and high-speed train station, technologically innovative amenities

The hotel was very new and therefore clean and comfortable - however, because it was new staffs were not well trained yet but acceptable, at least friendly. Room was very practically made, almost too simple but also can say efficient. Few complaints. First, the shower room door did not close very well therefore even though the shower was not strong enough some amount of water made the floor wet. Second, entering the room turns on the TV automatically and starts a little piece of music. It will finish soon but the TV kept on - I'd prefer not have this. Unlike other hotels in China the room was with enough light, no problem for working or reading book. Nice tweak with the switch near to the bed with several settings such as for reading and liked especially the one for sleeping which turned off all the light of the room but not everything at the same time so that you have little time to put your book on the side table. Very well thought. Unfortunately, the area is new and not for shopping, therefore, you may struggle to eat around the place but as it is very near from the metro station, and near to the Hongqiao airport, very ideal just for staying. There was a robot in the lobby which supposedly bringing some items to your room, next time hope to see him working.

Great new hotel with exceptional location being just almost across the street from the Metro station making it extremely convenient to get around. There are a number of restaurants in the area with even a McDonalds and Wonton place across the street. There is a huge new development being built nearby with even an Ikea but noise was not an issue for us but I suspect as it progresses, it may be a factor so ask to be away from the construction facing side
