GHL Monteria is a wonderful example of a well run 21st century hotel - efficient and friendly staff, excellent food - both dinner and the breakfast buffet were superb and well designed room with great shower.

This is a superior hotel for sure. This hotel goes the extra mile when it comes to service. When I first entered the hotel coming from the airport, I found refreshing cold water with different flavours waiting for me. The check in was delayed little bit as they were trying to find my reservation. The whole hotel is decorated to reflect the culture of Colombia … I was assigned a room on the “Diversidad” floor. When you enter the elevator, a very nice smell greets you. Every happy helper smiles and greets you. Buffet was diversified and tasty … as always my favorite part of the breakfast buffet is sliced fresh fruits for my fruit salad. I loved the color and shape of plates and coffee cups …continuation of this magical experience. The room was just awesome … comfy beds/pillows, mini bar (expensive like other hotels, I suggest not using it and buying your water, juice and snacks from Exito in the adjacent Mall), mini fridge, safe , coffee/tea making machine. My room had window overseeing the Mall … very cool. The hotel has a door that leads to the Alamedas Shopping Mall … the Mall has everything that you need: Gym, Cafe , Ice Cream, Food, Exito , money exchange , …. Special recognition for happy helper Omar as he was super kind and helpful to me… and he knew little English. Though, happy helper Angel is the only one who speaks English very well .

The room is too small and has no closet. The room space is too narrow to move around or place luggage especially for two people.
Also, even though there are signs all over the hotel in the rooms and common areas regarding smoking, people still smoke marijuana in their rooms and by the pool. We reported this to the receptionist but still the entire floor where my wife and I were staying, smelled very very strongly of marijuana. Additionally, my daughter stayed in a separate room and one day she left her window open and when she went to her room, it smelled like marijuana because clearly the people in the room next door were smoking weed.

The mattress or sheets smelled like urine. Upon arrival there was no shampoo, facial tissue or soap and it wasn’t restocked during a three night stay. The towels and duvet cover were stained.
They are extremely adamant about checking the mini bar inventory days before your checkout even if you tell them it’s not necessary. They came back multiple times on the same day.
This was my third or fourth stay at this hotel and may be my last because it seems to have gotten worse.
In general the hotel is well located and comfortable but this stay wasn’t great.
Across all my stays breakfast is consistently average with no variety and average service. Oftentimes there are 5+ empty tables and they’re all dirty.
