Mario was a great bird guide, but the tour was only on the property. It would be nice to have night tours and birding trips off the property. The internet service could have been better. The food was good, and the staff was helpful.

Attempted to move stay from 12/26 to 12/29, owner said there were no rooms available even though rooms were available on the website and hotels.com. Way to expensive, terrible CSR (except Hotels.com CSR was great). Recommend staying at las cabanas instead or anywhere else if you have a car

The rooms are basic, but you don't want to spend a lot of time there anyway. The feeling of being in the Garden of Eden draws you outside to the rushing little river, the dozens of hummingbirds zooming around the well-stocked feeders, the lovely grounds and the selection of hiking trails. The focus here is on conscious conservation and nature study and enjoyment, but the breakfast (included) was excellent and the dinner (extra) good. There are a couple of sodas in the village down the (very dark) hill as alternatives for supper if you have independent transport. We found the staff extremely service-oriented and helpful, and would definitely like to visit Bosque de Paz again.

The hotel is in a privately owned biological reserve, and you can watch animals and birds from the breakfast table. Our hosts gave us the warmest welcome. They were very knowledgeable and took pride in pointing at all the different birds and animals. The home cooked food was delicious. The rooms are spacious, clean, and nicely decorated, but it felt like a waste spending too much time inside. The grounds are amazing and maintained with love and passion. There are several well marked trails, which you can explore on your own or with a guide. We took the long new trail to the waterfall, and it didn't disappoint: apart from the waterfall, we saw pacas, coati, a snake, and even some wild pigs.
