It is hard to know where to begin this review. From the initial amazement when entering the property and seeing the lush environment to the astonishment of learning that Roger and Rosa took over this property years ago when it was a cow pasture and have converted it into an absolute tropical paradise. He plants 2000 plants a year with the emphasis on indigenous plants and attraction of animals. The stonework all from native stone is phenomenal. The breakfasts were amazing. Their hospitality was outstanding and always with a concern that we were getting everything we needed. It is a bit off the beaten path, but worth every pothole and rut and more to get there. A lovely location with great, helpful staff. The lack of a restaurant for lunch and dinner is not a problem, as the staff recommended a very good reasonably priced restaurant 600 metres away. The approach road surface isn't great, but the lodge is well worth the effort!

My family talked about our wonderful stay here the entire trip. The grounds are incredible! I loved sitting in the rocking chair listening to the man-made waterfall, discovering the rock path with jaw dropping beauty at every turn and enjoying the refreshing pool. The hosts are amazing as well! They truly love showing the place. Breakfast was fantastic and they were so gracious to give us seconds on smoothies. If we are lucky enough to come back to Costa Rica, we know where to stay!

The property was absolutely stunning! Beautifully built with an eye to the comfort of guests and respectful of the natural beauty upon which it was built. The owners and hosts, Roger and Rosie, are amongst the kindest and most hospitable people I have met on our travels. We only had two nights here but this place calls for a longer stay where you can enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the place. Next time!

The owner has built a wonderful walking trail on property up a hillside. The patio and dining area area in a serene setting. I especially likes relaxing out on the hammock listening to the bullfrogs. Breakfast is fantastic with eggs made to order and a delish fresh fruit juice. Internet is not the best in the rooms, but that is probably from the thick doors.

An exceptional property run by an incredibly kind and attentive couple named Roger and Rosy. The grounds are lovely, the product of the hosts’ efforts to plant thousands of trees and plants across the sprawling property. The facilities are very comfortable and spacious, everything was kept very clean and Rosy’s breakfasts are delicious and abundant. It’s a great base for exploring nearby sites and parks like Tenorio and Rincon de la Vieja. Would love to visit again and spend more than just a few nights there. There’s so much so see in Guanacaste and Malekus is a great home away from home to explore this fascinating region.

We had a wonderful 2 nights stay at Malekus Mountain Lodge. The place is beautiful, peaceful and immaculate. We enjoyed the large swimming pool. The area is great for hiking (they even have their own panoramic hiking trails on the huge property) and most importantly, the owners, Roger and Rosie are just wonderful hosts who made us feel more like friends than guests and provided us with great recommendations about points of interest in the area. Not to forget, the breakfast was fantastic, too. It included a buffet (fruits, cereal, yogurt, bread, sweets, coffee, tea, freshly made juice, and more) AND we got served a plate with eggs, and other items that varied (empanada, casado, potatoes, avocado). There are plenty food options (sodas) nearby for lunch and dinner.
