The staff was amazing. Ivan, at check in, walked out to our car to greet us and he was wonderful. He told us of all the places to visit in his area as well as other places that are a must see on our visit throughout Croatia. He was cheerful and informative. The service and the staff at the restaurant were the best I have had on my travels throughout Croatia. I give this hotel a 10/10.

Arrived from the US after a very long flight & were greeted by very kind staff. Had cocktail in the lounge and slept well. Breakfast was a highlight, especially the hand made ‘ginger shots’ offered on the buffet. Breakfast staff & front desk staff were adorable and friendly. Very nice experience-especially loved watching the rowboat taxi from our window-which we experienced a few days later!

Near the end of 3 weeks in Croatia. So happy to have the comfort and service of an American quality high end hotel after several apartments in historic cities “posing” as hotels. Hotels.com complicates the issue by not easily distinguishing between the two. Great staff. Great location. Great harbor view. Great cocktail bar. Great breakfast included. Easy parking. Will recommend this hotel to all our friends traveling in this area.

Disappointing stay – sleepless night and dismissive staff Booked Hotel Heritage Bastion expecting a peaceful boutique experience. Sadly, my sea-view room faced an open-air nightclub that blasted music until 1:30am. This was never mentioned in the listing or at check-in. At 11pm—when I was already in bed—reception casually offered to move me. Not helpful when you’ve already unpacked. The next morning, the manager was dismissive and said I should’ve "known" the hotel faces the club. No apology, no accountability. Breakfast was poor, and the staff attitude was indifferent. The hotel presents itself as premium, but nothing about the experience felt that way. I raised this with Expedia, but the hotel refused to take any responsibility. They claimed they can’t control another business—yet it’s an open-air club directly across the road, and every room on that side is affected. If you want a restful stay in Zadar, look elsewhere. Loud music, poor management, and a lack of guest care make this hotel one to avoid.

The Bastion Hotel is conveniently located in the old town, just a few minutes’ walk from the main points of interest. The staff offers a warm welcome and is very helpful—service is one of this establishment’s strong points. We stayed in the “Design” suite. This room was relatively small for a suite but well designed, with a sitting area and a good-sized bathroom. The fact that the suite still feels cramped suggests that the regular rooms must be very small. Light sleepers will find the room noisy—there is a club directly next door that can be loud. In my opinion, while this hotel is pleasant, it does not have the standing of a “Relais & Châteaux” property: there is no turndown service, and the food is very average. The rather poor breakfast discouraged us from trying the restaurant for dinner. That said, it’s still a hotel that offers good value for money, friendly service, and a very convenient location. This room was relatively small for a suite but well designed, with a sitting area and a good-sized bathroom. The fact that the suite still feels cramped suggests that the regular rooms must be very small. Light sleepers beware, there’s is a club directly next door that can be loud. In my opinion, while this hotel is pleasant, it does not have the standing of a “Relais & Châteaux” property: there is no turndown service, and the food is very average. The poor breakfast discouraged us from trying the dinner there. Good value overall but not a luxury experience.
