The Albemarle distinguishes itself in its attention to detail. Best shower I had in three weeks in Ecuador. Lots of hot water. Used books by the bed to read, board games...the list goes on. Plus the beachfront location is great with lots of bars and eating places within 5 min walk.Plus very attentive and helpful staff especially Samy at reception. Thank-you all of you for a short but special stay!

I really like this hotel, excellent location just by the beach, great breakfast and the employees very nice, polite and fantastic customer service also alot of restaurants very close. I will recommend all my family and friends to stay here.

It is a beautiful and comfortable hotel on the beach, with very good beds and delicious breakfast. The staff is very kind and helpful. However, it can get really noisy during the weekend (we stayed 3 nights) because it is located right behind the town's main square where there are very loud speakers during the day. Also, there's a soccer field next to the hotel, also with loud speakers until late at night, and they played several times on Saturday and Sunday. Monday night was quiet.

Spent 3 nights here. The hotel was as advertised - right across from the beach, bright and well appointed with a small balcony that opened out to the road across from the beach. The internet was wonky - there were at least 3 different wifis, none of which worked all that week from our room (first floor, beach facing). Breakfast was good, the pool was nice and in an open area. When we confirmed, as required that we would arrive on our date and time, the day before via ferry, the hotel rep responded “we’ll be waiting for you.” No one showed up at the dock, when we asked the desk attendant she flatly said “we don’t do that, I’m not sure who told you that” - so we showed the message, and the response was “someone in Quito wrote that, I don’t know why, I’ll look into it.” We didn’t hear back. Finally, be forewarned, they billed us for the room a full 2 months before the trip (even before the cancellation/refund period lapsed) “to reserve our room” because of high season. Not a huge problem, just not something that was expected based on selecting the “pay at the property” option.

The property and people were great. Their is a community soccer field adjoining the property on the side I stayed on and my room has an open screen window. Their were soccer games and music often in the mornings and one night until midnight, so it was noisy.

Overall this place was nice and we would stay there again. However, there were a couple of things that we would say, could make things a bit better. First, WiFi in the rooms. They had WiFi in the common area but when you’re on vacation and planning, sometimes you just want to lay down or post some pictures. Second, the VIP breakfast we received (for one day only) was subpar and it’s not worth the $12 per person/per day they charge. You can get a better breakfast somewhere else. Lastly, they have the hot tub as an amenity but they no longer have it. Bring it back! It would have been amazing to relax in there after the Sierra Negra hike.
