Hotel Podocarpus

This is a good hotel in the heart of the city. Hot water, clean, and attentive staff.

Excelente ubicación, el personal es muy amable y siempre dispuesto a ayudar. La habitación fue limpia y cómoda.

Buena ubicación. Buena relación calidad-precio. El staff amable. Por mejorar algo concretamente, en el desayuno no nos preguntaron cómo preferíamos servirnos los huevos, solo nos sirvieron huevos revueltos. Pensábamos que era así, pero luego nos dimos cuenta cómo sí lo preguntaban a otros huéspedes. Todos nos merecemos el mismo trato desde las pequeñas cosas.

Actually the property looks way better than the photos, really nice place to stay close to everything and service was great.

To much street noise at night in front rooms

Great location close to sightseeing, food, shopping with a helpful friendly staff. Comfortable clean rooms with a bath that provides a good hot shower. Well worth the money.

Everything was perfect. The staff were very nice from the beginning to the end of our journey. The room was impeccable and the breakfast was delicious. Without a doubt, I will book a room in Hotel Podocarpus next time I will be in Loja.

The staff was kind enough. The rooms are very dated. They are also very noisy. The bed sleeps like a rack. The bathroom was clumsy and hard to use. The WiFi was almost nonexistent. I had to time it just right just to check my email. We were booked for 5 nights, we left after 2.

The good: The hotel is clean and well maintained. It is centrally located within easy walking distance of shopping, dining and tourist sights in Loja. The breakfast was good. The water was hot enough to shower comfortably after a wait to get warm. The wifi was pretty reliable. The staff was generally friendly and tried to be helpful. Water dispensers were available in the lobby and on our floor. The bad: our room was in the front of the hotel and it was loud even by Ecuadorian standards. The noise culminated with the police using a loudspeaker to intervene in a domestic situation taking place across the street with a bullhorn at 0200. The beds gave new meaning to "firm". It was like sleeping on a board with a blanket on top. They were very uncomfortable. The staff speaks very little English and with my limited Spanish, it was difficult at times. To be fair, they were very patient and nice about my language shortcomings. There was a misunderstanding about the number of people in our party. There were 4 instead of the 2 listed on the reservation. Someone spoke to the other people in the group about some additional charges but it was apparently straightened out. When I checked out there was no mention of it. I assume that it was because the hotel is new to Expedia.

The entire place is clean and well kept. Very quiet and the bed was a dream! I slept so well! There was no climate control and the room was hot during the day, which I just opened the windows. At night early morning it got quite cold, so I closed all the windows and I was very comfortable. The restaurant was on the 2nd floor and very nice ambiance. I especially enjoyed the iconic transparent elevator! A very nice touch! I stayed on the 6th floor and truly enjoyed my stay! Very affordable.

Complicado lo del parqueadero para salir, para entrar. No tienen mucho espacio

Todo bien, pero se me cayeron los lentes en el hotel y no quisieron revisar videocámaras .

Lo único q recomiendo es mejorar el espacio de parqueo por lo demás excelente
