Logistically superb - lots of walks, beach, at low tide you can go rock pooling etc. Bus stop right outside - which when the weather isn't great is a useful option to get around. There are small bus routes that loop certain areas - and you get a running commentary so worth jumping on. Hotel is fabulous - views are amazing, food is delicious, and good value, room were exceptional (you must like the sound of the sea) and the staff are kind, informative and go above and beyond.

This is a very well-located hotel, with well-appointed rooms. We enjoyed our meal in the restaurant. The negative is the thumping bass in the bar/restaurant...it seemed OK at dinner, but was unpleasant at breakfast time. Our beautiful suite, the Victoria Suite, was right above the bar/restaurant and the bass from around 7.30 am to 11.30 pm detracted from an otherwise lovely stay. So if you are noise sensitive I would suggest choosing a room well away from the bar/restaurant. If you aren't, you will enjoy the view from the balcony and the decadent bathroom!

The hotel is beautiful and modern which we liked. It did lack in some big areas and I frankly expected better. The toilet was dirty on arrival and I don’t mean just a little. There were dried urine stains over the seat, the toilet, the base and the floor. Not sure how this could even be missed (which I can only assume means they don’t clean properly). It was resolved straight away but we shouldn’t have had to ask. The staff in the hotel were good. However, not so much at the onsite restaurant (The Rock). We found the service to be poor at the restaurant. We had to wait nearly an hour for a simple main meal which we were told was because of a lack of staff. This wasn’t communicated until after we paid. The prices are also too expensive. We had breakfast every day at this restaurant. The value for money is poor. They do not make it clear what is included. They will only let you order 1 item from the hot menu which is not stated anywhere. So you could effectively be paying £25 for some hot porridge. You also have to self serve everything including hot drinks and toast etc. At this price point I would expect a level of table service. Finally, the room is lovely. The terrace and view is amazing. We loved this. Again though there were some minor things that could be improved. This isn’t a cheap hotel and they need to have a better finish and eye for detail. Carpet edges and joins frayed. Holes in bedsheets. Cracked lampshades. It’s a shame but we probably wouldn’t return.

Room: 😃 excellent cleanliness, dramatic scenic view, well designed and kept, bigger size than usual (specially the bathroom), unique features - The double shower…wonderful - the noise of the sea from inside the room…very relaxing. 😐 no toothbrush and paste provided, which based on my experience, typically hotels do. Although the noise of the sea from inside the room (door closed) can be relaxing, it can also give you trouble to sleep if you are noise sensitive - note when we have been there was windy and sea wavy. Location: 😃 Amazingly positioned at the west end of the beach, along the west costal path which lead you to Alum bay to west and Compton bay to est, ideal for hiking lovers. Facilities: 😃 big car park with barred entrance and exit, amazing view from the restaurants, good breakfast provided, service at the tables outside on the terrace restaurant. 😐 music in the restaurant at breakfast time, can not seat inside if you are very noise sensitive, bottled water is not included and very expensive. Amenities: 😃 library! 😐google shows there is a Spa, with indoor swimming pool, but THERE IS NOT! - it was the previous hotel being there that had it. Staff:

The hotel is overlooking the Rocks- beach an attractive tourist destination. Its a cobble and pebble beach with small patches of sand for kids to play close to the hotel. Breakfast is good with good options for eggetarians and vegetarians. We did not have dinner or lunch at the hotel as we are not fan of sea food. It’s a kids friendly place and provided small bottle of milk everyday. Very helpful and welcoming staff. We would love to visit again.

Enjoyed three night stay. Need some form of hand-grip in the large shower, or a seat. Breakfast could be better— I think staff should bring tea and coffee and toast to the table— quite awkward to fill up a teapot with boiling water. Cutlery missing on laid table every morning.plates cleared away before everyone finished eating.
