Boxmoor Lodge

Good sized room, very clean and comfortable. Fresh bed linen and fluffy towels. Bedroom furniture dated and worn. Tiny shower cubicle. Bathroom window did not shut properly which let in the traffic noise. Breakfast was very good and staff were welcoming and friendly. We would stay again.

Boxmoor Lodge could be fantastic but please do not believe the pictures shown about this property as it's not. Unfortunately the property was a total let down, far below the standards we expected when booking this accommodation. In short there was mould on the door. Door curtain falling off rail. Sofa frayed at bottom. What looked like blood stains on duvet and long bed throw. Mattress protector so stained it showed through bed sheet. Both bedside lights did not work. 1 packet of biscuits and 1 hot chocolate despite there being 2 of us. No plug for bath. Old broken toilet roll holder was still on the wall with new one next to it. Glass missing in bathroom shelf. Toilet stained. Other guests rubbish found in hairdryer drawer. Hairdryer on wall was due for pat testing in 2008 by looks of it. Shower head sprays in all directions and its holder is broken. Shower door seal black, shower hose grimey and covered in limescale. What looked like nail glue on table. Picture had broken plastic front. Bedside unit that had a "radio" did not work and had knob missing, obviously for aesthetic purposes only. Room was way to hot even with radiator off. Hairs, dust and cobwebs everywhere. Generally tired decor in room. Continental breakfast was a bit lacking, had to ask if they did croissants and pastries as was only offered toast by server, only had croissants no pastries. The only good part of the stay was the bed was comfy but in all totally disappointed and will not recommend or be back.

On arrival we tried all the contact numbers to check in. It took twenty minutes before we successfully got the details for the lockbox. Why couldn’t this instruction have been sent in advance? The room was well laid out and beautifully warm. However we did find a hair clump in the shower. I also didn’t appreciate another resident chain smoking in the stairwell with the smell trying to permeate the room but had no faith in contacting a provided telephone number. The breakfast was continental and sufficient but with an option to pay for a cooked meal offered (I think the price was advertised in some materials in the bedroom). I didn’t see water on offer, so just grabbed some juice. Selection of teas available. Christmas music at the start of November? Bold choice!

I have stayed before on many occasions, although no staff to greet you now, the lock boxes for room keys works effectively. Staff are super lovely, very accommodating. Breakfast was tasty, paid extra for cooked option, but plentiful continental. Would highly recommend. Warm regards, Heidi and Evie😄

Stayed Sunday to Monday - only continental breakfast available on Monday mornings. Room adequate, shower cubicle small. Location was good for what we needed

The place is nice and the rooms a decent size. Our room was a bit dusty in places but the bed was comfy and the bathroom clean. Check in was via phone and a code given to unlock a key safe. Breakfast was good. It’s probably in need of a spruce up but overall it was fine

Individual rooms, set around gardens. Reasonable cost

Bed very comfortable brilliant nights sleep. Everything was very clean. Coffee, teabags & biscuits provided Lovely room. Just a walk to the railway station. Plenty of free parking Lovely 2 night stay.

Comfortable and clean room. Facilities were good. Breakfast was good and so was the service. Only stayed one night as was attending a family event which was nearby. Would stay here again.

Quaint English cottages. A bit far from anything.

Great place. V clean and comfortable. Unfortunately I made a mistake and double booked one night. Was Promised a refund for the mistake despite the no refund policy but sadly no follow through and still haven’t received any refund.

We liked the fact that our room was on the ground floor as I have some mobility issues. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely.

Our stay was very enjoyable. The bedding was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The welcome tray was filled with tea, coffees, biscuits & milk. The bathroom was very clean, shower gels provided and the towels were soft and very clean. The continental breakfast was plentiful and there was the option of having a full cooked breakfast too. We were greeted by very polite and friendly people.

Good small motel style hotel with friendly staff. Rooms normal, service good. Continental breakfast is limited but basics are there. Economical and good position for Boxmoor
