What Guests Say About Their Stay

This is a fun place to stay. I booked a safari-themed family room to sleep 5 even though it was just me staying. Room rate included parking, breakfast and use of the pool. Room was a little tired but clean and perfectly fine for an overnight stay. There’s no overhead light in the bedroom area (just the corridor by the door) so it could be a challenge if you plan to read, etc. There’s a fridge in the room which can be a little noisy but I slept fine with my usual earplugs. The bunk beds had complimentary Freddo frog chocolates so I enjoyed those. The pool is a lovely bonus. It wasn’t busy when I stayed as it was a weekday during school term. There’s a bar and two restaurants. The food options are mostly burgers, pizzas and ‘from the grill’ options. Not much for a vegetarian so I chose the two cocktails for £18 option and had packed snacks back in my room. While this isn’t aimed at the single adult overnight stay, I’d definitely stay again. Nice people and a fun place to stay. It cost the same as a more standard B&B which wouldn’t have given me the chance to see giraffes and zebras at breakfast. I met other single travellers who also felt this was a bargain midweek and much better than a standard hotel. Everyone was leaving happy in the morning.

Check in staff and staff around the hotel were all helpful and friendly. Room was a good size with a great view, however it is in need of renovations. Dinner was nice but the service staff were slow and we witnessed multiple tables being served food before drinks, including ourselves.

We stayed in the Aztec Monkey Room and it was great for kids and adults alike. Enough space and great idea to have a small partition between kids bunk beds and adults bed too. Lovely touch that they give you a small quiz of counting things around your room walls, to unlock a safe (located in kids room) that holds something inside for kids to find (even if the alarm beeping when code entered incorrectly by smaller kids pressing, drives you a little crazy :-)). Sadly we only noticed this quiz too late to take advantage of finding out what’s inside! Hotel is clean and well kept and located one min from the park entrance and actually within the park for the early access doors, which is a massive benefit to staying. The restaurant food choice was good and catered to my gluten and dairy intolerances also :-). Great view of lots of animals from this hotel and from our room which was on the end and the kids loved. Only things that let the hotel down was that we requested a cot in the room before arriving, which was not present upon arrival. It had to be requested by us a further three times over a 4 hour period before it finally arrived and impacting little one’s nap time. Secondly the splash pool looks incredible however has to be booked in advance, with little direction on how to do so before arriving and by the time we arrived, all slots were totally booked up leaving us unable to experience this at all. This was very disappointing for the kids. Overall, great experience!

We booked a monkey room with views to see the animals. The room was clean and the wallpaper was fab. We had a partial view of Wanyama, and sadly didn’t see any animals. Though if we did, the photos wouldn’t have come out very well as the windows were pretty dirty. The main bed had an uncomfortable creaky old mattress, and there was a noisy fridge that hummed on and off through the night. Bathroom extractor fan doesn’t turn off so also noisy through the night. No way to contact reception without walking a long way back to the Safari hotel…the monkey rooms are based in the Azteca hotel which doesn’t have its own reception. TV didn’t initially work in the bunk bed room, but was fixed quickly by a lovely staff member. Backs of remote were missing on both remotes. No main light, couldn’t see a thing in our suitcase so had to use my phone’s torch. Having a pool is a great asset but very annoyingly, the Savannah splash pool was closed for our time slot, as not enough staff. Restaurant very basic but extortionate pricing. Most mains cost £20 but don’t fill you up. Had dnd sign on the door but at 9.45am had a staff member knocking to ask when we plan on leaving. We were almost ready to go, for departure at 10am, so not sure why that happened. All in all, not great, as the main reasons to stay over (animals and swimming pool) didn’t happen. £300 for the room plus £100 for day in the theme park is just not good value.

Hotel is great for visiting the park and views of the animals. Zafari restaurant has great views of the animal park and the food is as expected. The junior entertainment was great for our 3 year old. Stayed in a Azetec room with separate bunk bed area. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. The bed was too firm for me which made sleep uncomfortable, but thats just my preference.

The hotel is now looking tired. Our bed was very uncomfortable which did effect our sleep. The food in the Safari Grill resturant was nice but portions are small. The plus side of staying at the hotel is that you get in the park an hour early although only limited rides are open.

Did not like the smell of sewage as soon as the room door was opened (342) very evident. Limited evening meal options and not a very good range of prices. Also the Buffet option in the Temple Restaurant does not cater for all, My vegetarian, gluten free mother only wanted chips but had to pay a staggering £17.75...just for chips. Ridiculous! Also on the Special Requests, for breakfast, I had asked for Gluten Free bread and not got any for the 2 days stay. Signage is not good either, couldnt easily find the Temple Restaurant. I dont think I will be staying here again. Not enough Disabled Parking right outside hotel. The hotel could also benefit from evening entertainment and snack shop.
